Fished Whitney Court river low, not a sniff of barbel: tried all baits including maggots. Chub much more obliging up to 4lb+ towards dusk on beat 5, caught on pellet, small boillies. Salmon showing throughout beat. First trip on Wye, will be back again. Travel light if you plan to move through beats. Nice stretch of river.
Stayed at Kilverts, Hay on Wye, 15 minutes from river: no complaints, good breakfast after few pints of Dirty Tackle night before.

Long way for one chub! Caught it on meat, clear water conditions. Good access to fishery though might be better fishing from the other bank? That's where the tree cover is, hope this helps.

River looked in good condition. Both anglers fishing the upper beat with no barbel showing in the morning. Mid afternoon saw PB land 2 barbel at approx 6lb on pellet within 30 mins of each other then nothing. PW blanked, but enjoyable day in lovely surroundings.

Went for pike: had no runs, takes or follow on bait or big lures. Very low water levels. Very poor all round.
Barbel angler opposite bank blanked. ...Oh and to top it off I left my unhooking mat and weigh sling there. .....

Another hard day on the river after a frosty start to the day again. No barbel caught and settled for trying to catch a chub. Ended the day with 3 with one lost, 2 on meat and 1 on bread. Aa pair of otters put on a fine display along the far bank and in the middle of the river.

Great experience for my first trip on the Wye. 11 barbel up to 8lb all on pellet and feeder at the top end. Frequent salmon showing and spectacular close up views of Kingfishers. Thanks WUF.

Beautiful day on my favourite stretch which I have visited several times this season. Made to work for the fish this time though, a drop in the water temp and bright sunshine meant that I had to wait 8 hours for my first bite. Kept mobile and prebaiting the likely swims eventually paid off. Fish fell to pellet and feeder tactics. Getting buzzed by an RAF Tornado at a couple of hundred feet above the trees was a special treat as well!

Very low and clear water, plus sunny day didn't work for us. Just few bites and two chub after 5 pm, that's all.

Fished beat 5, as instructed by Terry Ward and never had a bite after six/seven hours.Bit disappointed as we traveled many miles with hope that my friend and I would be put in an area with at least a small chance of catching a fish.
