All fish were taken from the deeper water at the top end of the beat, apart from 2 chub which fell to freelined baits in the shallows. Most fish caught in the evening including 1 eel on pellets or meat. River was low & clear, not as many canoes as expected. A very plesent day in the sunshine, thanks wuf.

Our second day and second WUF beat. Arrived at 4:45 AM, and decided to fish the swim with the inspection cover as suggested and the next swim upstream. Balled in some bait then went back to the van to rest the swim and tackle up. Fished with feeders till about 10Am with no joy. With canoes coming down we decided to come back later.
Arrived back to the same swims about 5PM and just used feeders to search the swims, fished until 10PM with only 2 chub an eel and a hand sized barbel, which took 2 elips pellet, greedy bugger!! River was slow and conditions were bright, also a lot of canoes as it was the weekend. Can't win them all.

Fished the Lucky Stone pool, not a place for the faint hearted, or those without a rope, but most definitely worth the effort.
I must of lost half as many fish as I caught due to being cut off and the snaggy nature of this swim.

Fish were caught on pellet throughout the day, barbel 2 lbs to almost 10 lbs. Rained all day and floating weed caused a problem. Good days fishing.

Constant rain all day and very heavy at times. Fished the lower section opposite the two houses, baited and fished 5 swims landing 2 barbel to 6lb. Between us we hooked a number of fish that we lost. In the evening we moved to the top end of the beat and between us landed 3 larger fish all on pellets.
The rain made the access track very slippery we stopped short of the river on level ground (with out blocking the track) as the slope back up would have been difficult.

Lovely stretch of river. However water levels were very low. Only 1 swim was fishable which was on the near bank. All fish caught were on pellet.

A tough day at Lower Canon Bridge with low water and rain throughout the day. That said we managed to pick up a number of barbel to 6.11. This is a beat that has left us wanting another crack at it in better conditions. The assistance of the farmer in taking us to the beat was very useful as it is a reasonable distance with all of your gear, especially in the rain. A big thank you to him. We will be back.

All species caught on luncheon meat. Weights were around the three to four pound range. A nice beat with good access along entire length.

Thank you Wye and Usk for the opportunity to fish this fabulous venue and to Colin for its immaculate presentation.
The journey from Windsor was made more difficult by road closures so arrived later than planned but still full of anticipation tinged with trepidation at the long walk not because of my age but the luggage I take in bait and food!
The weather was perfect warm, overcast with a light breeze so the fish might feed all day and so it proved.
After the walk to the favoured swims at the bottom end of the beat we baited the swims with ground bait and pellet and as soon as the pellet hook bait was attached it was the usual Chub took it on the drop followed by a Barbel then we caught steadily all day with both my friend Pete and I catching Chub on the float, me from the bank and my younger friend wading halfway across the river and feeding and catching Chub and Barbel with freelined rolling baits.
The bigger Barbel turned up late in the day including a really old looking black coloured fish with a lump below its dorsal fin how old it was we could only guess.
Another Red Letter day with Pete catching 15 Barbel and 22 Chub and I caught 10 Barbel and 37 Chub.
