After over night rain the water level had come up but fishing was made very difficult by huge amounts of weed coming down so we packed up & came back late afternoon had 3 barbel between 7lb 7oz to 8 lb, 1 chub & a eel all fell to ledgered meat. A nice beat again but banks are steep so not the easiest fishing.

The day started off overcast and showers, started off in the swim at bottom of fishery, a little tight with over hanging trees. Started to fish with pellet and groundbait with a few little bites, changed to bread crust and the chub started to bite.
What a lovely day fishing for chub but unfortunately no barbel. The water was rising and the sun started to come out so left at 3.30pm. This will be a great winter fishery with the amount of chub.

This is an eye-watering beautiful stretch with so many fishy-looking places it was hard to know where to start. I had a 4lb barbel first cast which got my hopes up, but sadly the rest of the day was a bit of a struggle. I tried a few swims and had a few small chub, 3 eels (including one 2.5lb+), and the smallest barbel I've ever seen (about half a pound). I didn't try the bottom field, as it was full of caravans (and will be all summer apparently). One of the caravaners was under the impression that he could fish all along the stretch.
A wonderful stretch and I'm sure I'll be back.

River had risen a couple of feet overnight which made the fishing a little more challenging in certain swims. There was a fair amount of weed which made fishing towards the far bank tricky. Had to work hard for the fish but they duly obliged. A few barbel in the 2-3lb class which was great to see. A prolific chub venue for the out and out chub enthusiast so well worth a return later in the year. A fantastic beat this with very good access and certainly great for the wading enthusiast. The owner, Don, was on hand with some great advice too which really helped. I will definitely be back.
