Got to boys rock at 5am in the morning. Tackle fairy was out and lost four or five rigs mid or main flow of river. No bites so moved to step swim and had 1 small barbel and two chub. Then at 14:00 hours moved back to boys rock where the barbel and chub had decided to feed - had three barbel biggest at 8lb 13oz, then two chub and an eel. Hard work but enjoyed the sweltering day. All fish caught on elips pellets and hinders bomb mix in feeders. Thanks WUF.

Travelled from Essex during the morning for a 3 day trip. Fished for just a few hours in the afternoon, very hot and humid. Just 2 chub to show for my efforts.

Three anglers fished beat 4 from dawn until 8-30am. Methods employed were stick float and bomb rod with various baits including maggots and pellet. The barbel caught was 27" long and weighed 8lbs and was caught on the bomb with Hinders elipse pellet.

Fished opposite the weir garden on a warm hot sunny day, fished from 9am and caught 1 chub between 9am and 6pm (this was with the warm hot conditions). But from 6pm until 8pm, the fishing improved as the heat dropped which meant the fish were feeding and managed to catch 4 chub with the biggest weighing 4lb and 2 barbel of which the biggest weighed 8lb. On the last catch I managed to catch a 6lb pike on a halibut pellet which I was very surprised about. Fished feeder tactics throughout the day. Lovely stretch of river. will be definitely returning in the near future.

With temperatures getting close to 30 and not a cloud in the sky and the river low and clear it was hard going.
Found fish under the weed at the top of the beat and spent a long time watching. Managed two chub to 4lb later in the day put on chest waders and fished the top swim and found some good dace to sweetcorn.

Hard conditions in the bright conditions but this is a lovely beat again. We found barbel in two swims but they were hard to tempt. We caught four on medium or large pellets. I rolled meat which got a couple of chub out.
NOTE. Most barbel we have had this week have had a few lice
on them which we have removed. They tend to be behind the dorsal fin and pectoral fins and can be washed off in the landing net whilst resting the fish in the margins.
The barbel can be seen 'flashing' as they try to remove them along the river bed and also leaping out of the water and crashing in to get them off too.
Good access to this fishery. The steps back up to the car are easier the more you catch!

Another great day on what is one of my favourite WUF beats. To be honest we were not expecting much what with the water being crystal clear and very shallow (Don said he has never seen it so low) but it did not make any difference. The fish came steadily from 5amm until 4pm when we packed in. We fished feeder/pellet until early afternoon then decided to cool off and waded mid river and trotted luncheon meat which produced a better size of Barbel. Thank you Don and thank you WUF.

Great fishing despite a very low, clear river and a very hot, bright day! Barbel, biggest 9lb 8oz, couple more over 8lb and chub to 5lb 1oz fell to pellet on running lead rigs. Bleak, dace and couple eels on the float rod. Great beat! Back next Tuesday to try again.

Wasn't very optimistic, low clear water high temperatures, not a cloud in the sky. Non-stop action all day, apart from following some canoeists who had a ghetto blaster at full volume and a large school party in canoes some of whom decided to come ashore. I thought that was it for an hour or so, but that definitely was not the case. Great day thanks WUF.

Got down to beat at about 5.00 am fished top swim and didn't even get a knock. Moved down river trying to find an accessible swim and found 1 in 1/2 mile. Fishing poor with bites few and far between. We have fished six beats on wuf and this is the worst for swims and bites. Just being honest.
