Feeder fished corn, meat and pellets. Fishing was excellent despite low water. Unfortunately had to leave early as a large brummy family decided they would ignore the 'fishing permit holders only' sign and decided to swim/jump/throw things in the river by the bridge.

First time fishing this beat. Arrived at sunrise to fish the bottom pool. Hadn't appreciated that the water levels were going to be so shallow. There are very concentrated pools of deeper water which take some locating. Fished for 8 hours without a bite. Tried feeder with pellet and free lined pellet and tried the other swims further up (although all were very shallow). I think what would have made a difference is trotting some luncheon meat but I didn't have any. What didn't help was the approx. 500 people in canoes. A serious canoe train started at about 10am and did not stop until about 6pm with a constant flow. Don't come here on the weekends unless you are a canoe spotter. They also pull up on the banks all around you and start with the usual splashing/shouting. Got to about 5:30 when I had 4 fish on 4 casts followed by another 5 until sundown. A long days fishing and could have done with another foot of water. I also felt that the chub were wise to ledgers and hooklinks. Tried trotting some pellet on the far side of the island but to no success. All fish in the medium range.

River low and clear, lots of weed coming down the river too, bright sunshine, real struggle. Only one of us caught and that was an eel. Very dissapointing day to be honest, two of us didn't even have a bite. The canoes and kayaks were a real problem.

River low, cloudy for most of the day with more sun in the pm. Hard work for 2 Barbel on pellet, at the start and end of the day. The island in the middle of the beat was well used at lunch time when 20 canoeists landed which made the fast run a no fish zone for a long while.
WUF Note: Even though there is a right of navigation on this section of the Wye, canoeists are only permitted to land on private property in emergencies. The urge for a sandwich would not qualify as such. Hire companies are now meant to have identifiable boats as part of their registration scheme. If you come across this sort of behaviour (or any other that is in breach of the code of conduct) and the canoes or group are identifiable, please let us know and we will forward it on to the navigation authority.

Arrived 12ish overcast and a few spots of rain, fished swim road side, mid river with straight link lead, size 8 barbless and corn and spam on the hook, loose feeding corn and hemp.
Constantly fed and had Barbel first cast of about 5lbs kept loose feeding and took 3 Chub in succession to 4lbs then the sun appeared and it died a death, took a walk to end swim and fed with the same ....(for a bit of trotting later) ...tried some meat in original swim again, instant reply from a 2lbs + Eel and then another and another ...re-tackle time twice !! Back to the corn and it payed off with another 3 Barbel over the next hour. Moved down to end swim around 4-30 fed corn and hemp and trotted single grain under a Dave Harrell stubby waggler took 4 old gold warrior Chub to 4.5lbs.....lovely day again and a nice chat with the beat owner to round it off. Left 6:30 as sun was low and even with sunglasses seeing the float was near impossible.....learn't a bit in the clear waters feeding chub and Barbel off the bridge, with trout pellet before I left.

All fish taken on pellet feeder, found lots of places to access the water, river was very low and clear seen lots of salmon jumping a lovely peaceful place to spend the day. Followed the access route as shown on the map which involved walking down the edge of a field planted with crops trying not to damage them, surely the public foot path by the church would be a better route. Stayed at Tresseck campsite in Hoarwithy with the New Harp next door great for a pint to celebrate your catch. All in all a great day thank you Wye & Usk for giving us the chance to fish in such fantastic locations

Fished the first five swims from the pumping station on rotation. Beautiful venue with good access, just didn't fish as well as it looks. 2 suicidal minnows was all I had to show for 11 hours.
If fishing the inspection cover swim about a third out-be prepared to lose a lot of feeders, I lost three in the first hour before I moved.
