Very disappointing day. Fished boys rock and wires from mid morning till late evening only managing 1 barbell, 1 chub and an eel. Think the barbel are spawning, conditions seemed to be perfect but couldn't get them feeding, but still a pleasure and we will be back.

River levels not surprisingly for the time of year pretty low. Didn't really come alive until 6pm. Pellet with method feeder produced some beautiful Chubb - all approx. 3 to 4lb. Barbel did not show.

Similar scenario to the previous day, with barbel starting to feed after 5pm. 3 caught, one lost, the best an immaculate 8lb 10oz. It's sad to see that 900m of the opposite bank has been leased to BAA on a cheap club ticket, resulting in a major increase in fishing pressure on this previously lightly fished stretch. Untouched river bank has now been carved out to make swims, and every day there are now multiple club anglers opposite. One chub I caught had the side of it's mouth hanging off - probably victim of a large barbed hook. Tragically, it's the sign of things to come. End of moan.

Great afternoon and evening session on the bottom pool of wye bank. Started within 5 seconds of casting out and then frantic action, a fish a cast. After 20 plus fish on free lined meat and pellet I couldn't help think I had fished it out as no bites in the last two hours. Moved up steam for a few more. No monsters but barbel to 6lb and chub to 4lb.
No weed this year in the river and relatively snag free. Look at Trabucco-uk.com blog for photos if interested. Thanks to Don who runs the beat. No Salmon seen.

A great day out. I must say that the swims have been strimmed back and easy access to the water is possible. Fishing bait pellets, sweetcorn and luncheon meat, chub caught on all three and also an eel on sweetcorn, remarkable. Nine pound barbel caught on pellet. Two points of observation. We had to do a lot of litter picking as a result of other anglers rubbish. This was definitely anglers rubbish as it was in the fishing areas and some of it shoved in under steps etc. Also anglers on the opposite bank casting into our swims as the How Caple side is much deeper.
