River was clear but looked great. I had barbel up to 9lb 1oz which was one of the best looking barbel I've ever caught. All fish apart from one barbel were caught between 9.00am and 6.00pm. Ledgered boilies and pellet.

A challenging day, due to the clear, low water conditions. Several chub (generally in lean and poor condition) caught during the day. After 6pm the barbel started to show interest, and caught 2 and lost one up to 9pm. The best was a well fed beauty of 8lb 14oz. Due to the clear water the barbel are bronze and dark this year, like a throw back to the good old day's on the Avon and Stour.

Another great session on this beat. Pellet feeder tactics doing the damage again.

Top end of the beat is very pretty with great views of the weir gardens and excellent access, with the lower end proving a bit tricky to get to.
I lost a couple of fish to the large weedbeds they were hiding under, even on stepped up floodwater tackle but managed to land 5 Barbel and 7 Chub. All fish were taken on standard feeder tactics with hemp, mixed pellet and groundbait.

Arrived late afternoon due to long drive up from north to find an angler on the end peg in wooded section near road who'd been there since first thing and was bagging up. Seems to be where the barbel live because we couldn't get a bite, only managing a barbel and an eel between 3 of us.

Fished from the off with pulley hair rig with luncheon meat at the hook and ground halibut pellets and groundbait mix in feeder. All started well two in the net in first hour and one lost the two were both 4-5lbs. Moved to next swim and hooked a clonking eel of about 3lb which totally minced my rig. Next chubby looking area produced 2 of about 3lb. Next pool gave the biggest of day a fine chubby fella 5-6lb. Like a muppet I switched to float and took three chublets of 6 inches. Lovely way to spend half a day. The one lost in first pool was way bigger, barbel I feel.

Another fun day on Wyebank with 35 fish on the bank. We arrived a couple of hours before first light and whilst sitting it out on the bank, awaiting daybreak, we witnessed a pair of otters feeding in the pool. Fished from first light until 8pm and had fish throughout the day but with the bulk of the action coming before 11am and after 4pm. Barbel included two at 8lb 14oz, three +6lb, one +5lb and the rest mostly in the 3-4lb range. The Chub went to 4lb 8oz. To keep the bites coming we had to loose feed pellet and hemp regularly and change methods. We caught on open-ended feeder with pellets and groundbait or scalded pellets moulded around grippa leads. Successful hook baits included Hinders Elips, Bait-Tec Hybrid barbel, Sticky Baits The Krill boilies wrapped in matching paste and scalded Halibut pellets. We struggled to get bites when it was raining or when the sun was shining directly on the run. Canoes were out in force from 11am to 4pm with long periods where we were forced to rest the swim.

Once the fluff chucker on the far bank left the Boy's Rocks area and I could move in I began to steadily hook Barbel until lunchtime, landing 5 and losing a few others on crab, halibut and sausage pellets with pva mesh and later a cage feeder to introduce free offerings. The biggest was 9 pounds exactly, smallest about 6 and unusually several showed signs of scarring on the body, perhaps from over-vigorous spawning or cormorant/otter attacks? The chub came later on cheese and whilst casting a huge spoon for an enormous pike I spotted I hooked what I have been told was a shad. Never even seen one before and returned it asap but good to know they're about in the Wye I guess. Awesome day as usual, I will be back.
