After struggling in the intense heat of the previous day the Wyebank shade was appreciated. An after lunch start was not ideal and the fishing was slow at first with a few missed bites and a chub and an eel but that all changed a few hours in when something more substantial bent the rod over. An arm aching 10 or so minutes later the barbel I made the trip over from Ireland for lay in the landing net. 9lb 4oz of majestic power, carefully weighed, photoed and recovered left one very happy angler.
So happy I won't go on about the "good access."

River conditions looked perfect but the heat was unbearable. We stuck it out thinking it would improve as we went into the evening but it was still 28 degrees at 8.00pm. We had to concede and live with the fact that we have probably just returned the lowest catch report ever for 3 anglers on this beat!!!
