This beat is well looked after by Colin. Only had a few hours on the float, all fish taken on corn towards the end of the beat. A very good day in a wonderful part of the world will return next year, many thanks.

2 Barbel, 6 Chub, 4 Other

Bright sunshine, water very low with hardly any pace to the river so not ideal conditions, only one Barbel of medium size caught mid river using the feeder method with pellets.

1 Barbel

River low, bright, sunny, cloudy spells and brisk wind pm. Feeder, mag. both had barbel up to 8lbs bracket. Some silvers.

3 Barbel

I located the fastest section of flow I could find on beat 4 and with the aid of a dog spike and rope gained access to fish it. After two hours without a bite I opted to wade across the shallows to the deep run opposite and using luncheon meat instead of pellets I immediately caught a chub. At last, the essence of Wye fishing, wading the river close up and personal to the quarry using balanced tackle. Some four hours of excellent sport completely justified the cost and effort of driving from London. Four hard fighting chub, lost fish and missed bites all components of a memorable session. I then returned to trying to tempt the barbel in a section of deep water for four hours without reward.
Next trip I will take more care to investigate river conditions to optimize the possibility of catching barbel but the chub are a pretty good consolation.

Fished the upper stretch, river very low and gin clear.

4 Barbel, 5 Chub

River very low and very snaggy fished from 4.00pm with only one bite and one lost fish.

River conditions low and morning bright sunshine. Baited various swims close to our bank with hemp and pellet and moved around without locating any fish. Fished late afternoon until dark with feeders in the deepest water we could find but did not have a bite all day. There were at least 6 anglers on the opposite bank and we only saw 1 barbel caught and one lost.

A great day trotting a large thick speci waggler with carp pellets and meat cubes. 20 chub from 2 to 4lb caught wading in just above the white water at the bottom of the beat. Fish came steadily throughout the day but fed more aggressively when there was cloud cover. Plenty of smaller chub and Dace graced the net and then at last knocking whiskers put in an appearance to end a terrific day. Approximately 7lb of hard fighting perfectly conditioned Wye Barbel.

First timers on this stretch. Water is low but still has nice pace. Feeder fished pellet, 2 barbel 6 chub.

2 Barbel, 6 Chub

This is a nice piece of river with easy access to alot of it. Walking is easy also. Usual methods to catch barbel once we found them, shame the bailiff never returned my call to him but all in all I would return here even though the river is very low. There's still an awful lot of water to go at.
