Just two/three hours on the float this morning at first light. There is something magical about rivers (especially the Wye) at dawn. I do like this beat. To have the river to myself and watch the wildlife go by (well perhaps not the mink) let alone the opportunity to fish for such pristine fish. Priceless.

Recent rain had slightly coloured the river but left it no higher/faster than normal low summer level. A barbel on the 1st cast was a false promise of what was to come and we struggled after that. Half a dozen swim changes - amidst the showers - in my case failed to produce even the obligatory 1st cast chub. A return to my original swim yielded 3 more barbel including a lovely fish close to 9lbs. My friend stuck it out in his original swim but with no more success.

Another pleasant day at Foy Bridge. Not quite as hectic as earlier in the season but managed to catch throughout the day and when the barbel aren't feeding there is obviously a good head of quality chub present to keep you occupied.
All caught on feeder tactics to the usual baits - chose comfy swims and brollies due to the weather!

A beautiful stretch of river, but despite various tactics and baits tried, I only managed three chublets (trotting sweetcorn) and one eel on ledgered sweetcorn! I am sure this stretch is full of fish, but just not a good day for me despite favourable conditions. Beautiful scenery and the Kingfisher on the opposite bank caught a lot more than I did!

What a day!!! Took a couple of hours to find them but when I did, they were hungry! 19 barbel in a day, wow! Only stopped as I ran out of bait. Feeder fished pellet for all fish, weed made holding out in the coloured water for more than a few minutes very testing but no compliants on the action recieved! Many thanks WUF for the chance to fish this great river, shame its so far from home. Stayed at Symonds Yat Rock Lodge, very nice, ideal distance for the beats in this area.

Great day, 11 barbel to 8.10lb and 6 chub all over 4lb, best 4.08lb and one eel. Pellet feeder doing the best. River coloured and pushing a little making the floating weed a pain but fishable. Many thanks WUF.

Fished above the orchard to avoid cows in the lower beat, was disappointed with number of swims available, approximately 4 plus the cattle drink swim. Could not believe the amount of rubbish left everywhere. Cleaned up a fair amount, including cutlery for pot noodles as I walked the bank. Some staked swims are completely inaccessible and for £22 per day we should be at least have more options. Could definitely do with a "working party" to make the fishery a better place. Enough of the whinging, back to the fishing. Between us we had 1 barbel 7lb and 8 chub, all on lamprey pellet either feeder fished or straight legered with pva bags. Fished better in the evening from around 5 o'clock onwards. Lovely surroundings to enjoy a day on the Wye and will hopefully be back to do it all again.
WUF note - This beat is booked to have access improvement work and swims opened up this week.

Fished for two hours and had two barbel in the 5-6 pound bracket. Lots of canoeists and families picnicing on the beach - but they were all very pleasant.
