First ever visit to this stretch and was very impressed with not only the fishing but how well kept the stretch is! Fished the bottom end and caught all my fish on trotted hemp and corn and will certainly be back again!

The river was in good shape after recent rain. Three Barbel in the morning between 3lb and 6lb, all on pellet. The afternoon failed to produce anything. A lovely spot which I know is full of fish. I recommend taking a float rod and walk about a bit trotting in the faster flows with bread/corn as well as feeder tactics.

Fished the bend in the river where the far bank is tree lined and caught a chub almost every cast. I couldn't find any Barbel though. Packed up early as it was blowing a gale with occasional thunder and lightning. 7 days earlier I'd had a great day trotting the far bank in the end swim although its not easy netting and unhooking the barbel so far out in the river, a medium sized folding game net helped.

First visit to Lower Hill Court. Waded off a shallow beach and caught 2 barbel trotting hemp and corn and then the heavens opened! Fished a pellet feeder and bad 11 barbel over the same line I was trotting. Only fished the morning as the weather got the best of me but will certainly be back again!

Heaviest rain I've seen in years, river chocolate brown, didn't even see a single fish. Not many accessible swims to get down to the river.

Glad I braved the remnants of Bertha for a few hours at/after daybreak. Back in the evening after drying out for a few hours! Consistent sport from 6 through until 10 and then from 5 until 9 (ish) even though river the colour of chocolate by the early evening. Fed with PVA bags of pellet and ledgered pellet, spam and corn hookbaits - all caught. Nothing huge but a great days sport.

RAIN, RAIN and more RAIN but good for the river. Did clear in the afternoon and on the plus side, kept the canoes away. Fished every type of swim possible fast water, slow, deep, shallow and far bank under the trees but the fish did not want to know. Did manage 3 fish in the end but hard work, just could not find them. Maybe next time.
