A lovely pool with plenty of features and a rich chocolate colour. Shallow but full of fish that will feed close in. Plenty of small roach and the odd golden Rudd. Some perch and lots (20+) of eels.
Carp proved to be elusive with a few hooked but not landed. Don't be put off by the lack of depth - the carp can be drawn into the margins with a bit of baiting up.
We didn't see a soul all day and the access was good. A pleasant pool to fish and we are already planning a return later in the year to settle the score with the carp.

Lovely beat. Was dead all day and I really struggled. All the fish were taken from 6 till 7.15. Packed up at half past due to long day and probably would have caught more if I had stayed. All the fish were on cut down boilies and feeder. My advice would be if you're fishing Saturdays or Sundays - start later in the afternoon. Got wiped out by canoes countless times.

3 chub to 5lb and 2 barbel to 7lb all on feeder and small pellet, bites were very timid hence smaller hooks and baits although there were plenty of knocks.
2 poachers who claimed they were told they could purchase day tickets on the bank were very politely told to pack up and seen off the water. Lots of canoes generally fine and gave you room.

Please note the catch above was for both days that we were booked on, Friday 4th and Sat 5th.
River level recorded at Ross 0.38 Meters. Weather warm and Sunny, best fishing was early morning/late evening. Whilst the fishing was very good it was like fishing on a building site with the generator noise. I booked both days on the understanding that the generator would only run for up to 2 hours per day. On Friday it started at 9.15am and was only switched off approx 2pm, only then because I rang the Wye and Usk to complain. The lady that answered was very helpful and she got in contact with a Mr Edwards who came down to see us. He was very friendly and helpful and apologised. Don't know how long it went on for on the Saturday as we moved as far away as possible and didn't get to fish where we wanted. There is no way that we will fish that stretch again because of the relentless noise.
WUF note - It does state on our website page that during periods of low water, an water abstraction pump maybe in operation for 2-4hrs per day.

9 Barbel were caught ranging in size from 4 up to 8 1/2 lb. All were in good condition 1 was caught in the morning in Vanstones Pool the remainder were caught in the afternoon in the three cleared swims in and around Rope Pool and at the end of the concrete road. They were all caught on swim feeder rigs using pellet and boilies. There was heavy canoe activity until 4 pm but this did not appear to have an adverse effect. The fishing really switched late evening at about 8 pm with bites coming thick and fast. An absolutely brilliant days fishing.

Fished the middle of the beat - most fish taken on feeder fished robin red pellet with a couple on sweetcorn. Great pegs with easy access. Map was easy to read and we found the stretch easily. Great day.
