Awesome trip! First visit to the Wye, river in perfect condition, dropping level with some colour still. Fished for two days 20/21st of August, mainly used pellet fished on feeders with pellet/hemp ground bait. Had three eels on pellets as well? Good stamp of fish, barbel 5lb to 7lb best 9lb 6oz, chub 3lb to 4lb best 4lb 12oz. Lots of salmon jumping along the stretch. Very snagey, lost alot of tackle so bring plenty of feeders! Got cut off regularly so lost a few as well. Lovely peaceful countryside setting, enjoyed a lot. Many thanks Wye and Usk Foundation.

Disaster struck before a line was cast as AL lost his rod into the Wye. With rod resting against rod rest AL went to the top of the bank to sort out other kit and came back minutes later to find rod rest in water and rod gone! Despite frantic dragging of the river no rod was retrieved. If anyone pulls it out its a Daiwa Proteous Barbel 2134TT 1.75TC(I think) with Cardinal reel attached. Spare rod was used but nothing was caught. JA managed 4 eels on the feeder, on meat and pellet. River was fining down and a lot of canoeists went by.

The river was holding just enough colour for the barbel to feed and we managed a few. Didn't fish on into the evening and probably would have caught more if we had stayed. Total 4 barbel, 2 chub.

River high and coloured. Arrived at dawn and fished until dusk. Fished muddy bank just downstream of Marl Bed. Slow start but then caught steadily throughout day - 8 barbel to 9lb 6 oz, 6 chub to 4lb and 1 2lb eel. All fish caught on halibut pellets fished over hemp. Enjoyable day!

First visit to this stretch and overall disappointing despite good colour and river levels dropping, though mainly a result of poor choice of swims as we eventually found out from Colin just as we were leaving.
Lulled into a false sense of security, bites on 1st casts (typical pellet feeder approach), 3 chub and a barbel within 45 minutes suggested a bumper day and a good swim selection. Sadly that was it for the day with the remaining time spent in snags and lost terminal tackle, even managing to snap a rod (carelessness!)
Unfortunately when we did see Colin at 5pm and he advised of the hot-spots, my son who was on his 1st ever river fishing trip was not in optimistic mood so I decided it best to call it a day.
I will be back, lovely stretch, Colin a very nice guy and very helpful.

All the fish caught were around 30cm in length and all caught using a feeder with sweetcorn on the hook. Lots of minnows at the edge. One chub and two carp. No luck with the float/controller. Water was quite cold. The dozen horses who arrived as part of a pony trek and had a splash around in the water didn't help. I wonder what other water they splashed through given that we're cleaning our waders every visit? Lovely day, beautiful scenery.

Guided for the day on the beat. Great days fishing again. It looked like the river had been up a 1m or so but had dropped back and was about 30cm up with good colour. Fished in the wooded section.
Fish fed throughout the day. Had two 8lbers with the larger one being 8lbs 15oz. Largest chub was 4lbs 6oz a new pb for customer. He hadn't caught a barbel before but now he is a converted Wye barbel fisherman. Thanks to the W&U Foundation.

First fish of the day was a superb 9lb 14oz Barbel caught by JA on double sweet corn. Another two Barbel were netted during the day with a couple of chub, biggest 3lb 10oz and an eel, all caught on either sweetcorn, pellet and meat. River had some colour after previous rainfall. All fish were taken on the feeder.

4 Barbel, 3 Chub and 3 Eels on pellets, meat and boillies. Hard day had knocks all day in every swim we tried but the fish just weren't having it.
