Very hot day with some cloud. River low which made it easier to find the barbel. Some fish by viaduct but could not get a pickup so moved after an hour. Second swim was textbook barbel territory. Caught steadily on pellet and finished with 14 fish to 7lb 5 oz and one small chub.

Excellent days fishing for myself on a very nice beat, 11 Barbel & 2 Chub all caught on boilies, angler 2 had 2 Barbel & 1 Chub and angler 3 only 1 Chub. These were caught on pellet, river had risen slightly during the night and there was a lot of weed coming down the river which made conditions very hard.

First time on this beat and really liked it. Would certainly return, hopefully when conditions are more favourable. All the fish were caught from the swims down stream of the rocks. The largest barbel, a stunning fish weighing 9lb 10oz. The barbel are long, lean and stong!

The 3 of us booked Courtfield and were looking forward to a long weekends fishing. However things went from bad to worse, only one fish caught and the changeable weather made things worse. Our only issue with this beat is that there are not many fishable swims and the banks are almost impossible to tackle in the wet.

Fished Lower Canon Bridge for the first time, river very low and clear and was hard going all day, only 1 eel and 1 chub caught all day, 1 barbel hooked but managed to cut me off on a rock.
This beat is a very long walk and it is well worth paying the farmer £5 to take you down to the river and bring you back and he was a very nice guy.

No fish caught, feeder and pellets produced only one typical barbel bite which failed to connect. A disappointing day. Water level low, previous experience of the river had better fishing when water colored.
