Day one - Great expectations, very hot, too hot. That walk is just too far, even without the heat.
The Taxi would have been great but could not get him on phone but spoke to him later and he only takes you to the river. Then you still have 3 fields and 3 stiles to cross to get to the top end were the faster water is.
Finally arrived saturated and knackered, water very low and clear. Had a nice chub about 4lb second cast but nothing for rest of day/evening between two of us.
But I must say it is a lovely location and in the right condition would have produced more fish. Main bait used elipse pellet.

River dropped again over night and after such a hectic day on the Monday, the barbel definitely seemed to have dropped back, possibly into deeper water downstream. Still, I had some great fun on the float catching the chub but lost a couple of nice barbel in the faster flow. However, I did catch a lovely 9lb+ barbel from the deep hole below the island so was pretty chuffed with that. Had to work much harder for the fish today but still a very enjoyable day on the Wye.

Fished the top of the beat in the afternoon in the heat of a scorching day and received not a single bite for my efforts. Moved downstream and fished the beach in the evening with the desired effect. Lots of interest from the resident barbel and two 5 pounders landed plus an eel. The former on halibut pellets and the latter on a piece of luncheon meat. A wonderful beat, great vehicle access and a very friendly farmer. Banks are very steep at the top end but the lower end is pretty easy going, I even managed to get a chair out. Many thanks to WUF.

Only one of us ended up fishing due to heat! Made the very long journey on foot from youth hostel car park - needs stressing that the track to carpark is extremely narrow, very steep - glad I had the truck! Disappointed by the lack of available swims. I don't mind a bit of wild stuff but in 30deg heat I'm not going to start wading through 6ft nettles in my shorts! Eventually found a spot and managed a couple of barbel once the heat had died down a bit - one just nudging 10lb which I was very pleased with and made the long hike back worth it. River low and warm and could do with a flush through in next couple of weeks.

Great day's fishing on this lovely stretch even though it was getting on for 30c! All fish caught on pellets or corn on the float or feeder set up. Must have lost another 6 barbel throughout the day but still very happy to come away with 17! Really nice to meet Don too, lovely chap who is very helpful and knowledgeable!

A roasting hot day so sat under the shade on the left hand bank a couple of swims down from the bridge. Still managed to bag a couple of Chub and three Barbel on pellets. A few people about so would suggest fish early and/or late.

We arrived at the fishery around 6.30 am and fished for barbel with pellet and feeder in the wooded section, despite Don The bailiffs excellent advice, we caught just one chub between us and packed up around midday. To be fair the river was very low and the weather had been stinking hot for the past week, not the ideal conditions for barbel. The Wye and Usk Foundations service was excellent with good directions to the fishery, however you need to be a mountain goat to get to the river in the wooded section.

Fished the morning only, due to high temps, never seen the river so low! The fish were feeding well in the faster, weedier glides. The barbel were all around 6lbs, best chub was 3lbs with a couple around the 1lb mark.
