Lovely stretch of the Wye (isnt all of it though!) and the fishing is not bad either. Started on the usual feeder tactics to locate and fish and found a few so set up the trotting rod and caught some by trotting down the long run.
There is a huge amount of canoe traffic here as there is a pub/picnic stop just where you park up so the flotilla of boats after lunch can be quite annoying. Having said that all of the canoes were respectful of me fishing (the ones that could steer anyway) and it didn't really effect the fishing.
All in all a great day.

Started fishing at 8:30am, finished at 6:00pm. Hot, sunny day, water low, clear and not very fast flowing.
Fished glued pellets all day, first fish within few minutes (barbel with a distinctive kink in its body, caught the same fish twice in same swim.). Also caught one eyed barbel which we caught 2 years ago in this same swim! Largest fish 10lbs, caught 4 other fish in the day so it ended as a great day of fishing. Has anyone caught either of the 2 distinctive fish. 1 eyed or kinked bodied fish?

Had a fantastic day with 10 barbel between 4 and 8 pounds caught and 6 chub between 2 and 6 pounds. Most fish caught early morning and evening. Used feeder tactics over a bed of hemp. Hook baits were fishmeal boilees and halibut pellets. By the end of the day the fish were queuing up to attack the feeder with 2 chub and 1 barbel caught 'on the drop', the rod hooping over before the feeder had even hit bottom! River was normal Summer level.

6 Barbel, 5 Chub and 1 Eel on pellets and bread. Quiet day up until 4pm then I had 4 fish in 4 casts. This was followed by a family canoe party coming past. One lady apologised for spoiling the peace and quite and then joined the rest of the party on the gravel beach so the kids could have a water fight. 30 minutes of screaming and shouting and no more fish. Coincidence? I don't think so.
WUF Note: On the navigable sections of the Wye the right of access does not extend to the river bank unless there is a public right of way or if there is an emergency. Any canoeists landing on private property without emergency can be requested to move on. Many hire company boats will be required to carry markings after July 2013. Reports of transgressions by identifiable boats can be made to the navigation authority (EA) and Herefordshire Council.

A long and difficult day that was ultimately rewarding. Started in the swim nearest the pillars and landed 3 nice barbel up to 9.5lbs before two very nice men on the opposite bank started strumming the bank and cutting down trees - which they then threw in the river and killed the swim! The river was very low, slow and clear so fished off the bottom island and was straight in to chub - got all 10 here with sizes ranging from 3 to 5lbs. All caught on small (4ml) pellets glued to a hair. Swim went quiet so moved to the top of the beat. 4 barbel here with the largest just under 10lb, caught on 10ml pellets glued to the hair and a large ground bait feeder. Moved back down close to the pillars for a final couple of hours and managed 3 more barbel, with a best for the day of 10lb 6oz. All caught on my favourite Hardy Marksman specialist feeder rod with a 5oz tip, 10lb mainline and 20lb micro-braid hook links to either a size 10 or 12 hook.
There is a lot of weed in every swim, but it is relatively easy to see or find the clear channels - a third to half way out if you are fishing near the pillars. My overall experience in two visits to date is that you have to work hard for your fish - but nothing a wrong with that!!
