We turned up to fish this stretch for the first time. Having read some of the earlier catch reports that said this was a difficult section to fish we were surprised to find this was not the case. The walk down from the upper car park area was a bit tricky due to the narrow flight of concrete steps so wouldn't recommend this access for the less physically able. We didn't check out the lower access as its on a 4 hour parking limit. Anyway the fishing was good, we had 8 barbel between the 2 of us to 8lb on pellet. It was a bit snaggy as usual for the Wye but not the worst we have experienced. We would return to this stretch in the future.

Weather was warm and dry for a change. However the barbel didn't want to play very much. C caught a pb of 7lbs 14oz plus another of 5lbs 10oz. These were caught in the late afternoon. I had one earlier of about 5lbs. Slow going but the river was down and clear so not ideal. Nice to meet the two guys from Exeter.

The river was running quite clear today. I had a number of knocks and tugs during the day, with one barbel early afternoon, then three in three casts as the light started to fade. Biggest of the day was 9lb.

The access track to the bottom of the beat looked very dicey in the wet conditions so we set out on the long walk to the top swims, down through the woods. It was a quiet day despite the river looking in perfect condition but we did manage four barbel and a sprinkling of chub between us on the usual pellet and feeder.

River and weather in perfect condition, only problem was the leaves drifting down stream. After trying meat, corn, mini boilies and pellet all morning with no joy the concern was would we catch. Luckly the afternoon produced 5 barbel to 9lb, no surprise on pellet. What a great setting to fish in and will return.
