Second time on river Wye. Arrived at 7.30am. Temperature 3 degrees celsius. River was flooded, water level high and the speed super fast. 4oz feeder would not stay in the place where I wanted until hit some rock. I started near to Luggsmouth. I tried to cast to place where water flow was little bit slower. Stayed there till 2pm. Nothing there. Then I moved near to the fishing hut and finally I caught my first Barbel ever 5lbs/64cm. Soon after first came second, 5lbs/68cm. Later 1 chub. Then everything get quiet. Nice place, long walk from the carpark, but ok for me. If you have 4x4 you could drive near to the river I guess. Be careful when leaving, impossible to see to the right. I will be back one day.

A pleasant day out in Autumnal sun. Five barbel came our way from 5lb to just under 8lb from two different swims out of the three we fished. River was carrying a lot of colour and dropping slowly whilst we were there.

River was running high, fast and very coloured with a lack of swim access. Fished for about 2 hours but was struggling to hold bottom with debris grabbing my line so called it a day after that. No fish.

Arrived early afternoon, river high, coloured and fast. Selected a peg but nothing after a couple of hours, moved 20 meters downstream and fished a further 3 hours catching two barbel, one chub and was snapped by a barbel. All on pellet over hemp. A great beat, would be fantastic when the river is more sociable! Thanks to WUF for allowing us to fish these amazing beats.

River still got a strong push with levels high, lot of debris like trees and logs coming down the river. The chub seem to look for refuge in slacks but the barbel appear to remain in the fast water, not even in the creases which makes getting a bait out to them and holding it there very difficult and not for the faint hearted. Fished with pellet and got a couple out. Hard going but not impossible. Need to visit the gym more often so i can tackle the trek from car/fishery!

Once again the conditions conspired against us and we found the river very high and heavily coloured. Not knowing the stretch and having zero knowledge of favoured areas, depths and bottom type, we were literally fishing blind. We were very pleased to find 10 barbel up to 8lbs 6oz, 4 to KC and 6 for GP. We viewed it as something of a triumph in the conditions. One day we will see this stretch at normal level.
