Warm windy day. Arrived a bit later than I wanted but had a barbel very quickly of 5lbs, taken on luncheon meat not far out in the crease about halfway down the beat. Nothing else even when I moved further downstream. Several fish jumping out of the water, anyhow saw a kingfisher several times. Lovely place and enjoyed my three days fishing on various beats of the Wye and Lugg. Top marks WUF the system worked perfectly for me and I will be back.

Arrived at 8-30am and found hill to venue steep but not to far luckily. Had a walk of the stretch, most of first field fishable although not exactly armchair pegs. After bridge over stream at end of first field nowhere really to fish until croy right at end which was a shame. My stepson tried here but under low river conditions and sun had no joy.I had 3 chub up to 4lbs 4oz up to 4pm. After starting fishing just after 10am in first field, added 4 barbel from then to 7pm when we called it a day. My stepson had 2 late barbel to save his day, all fish on feeder on either pellet or paste between 4lbs 8oz and 7lbs 12oz all in mint condition and fought well.

We we were the only 2 rods booked on this day, rather disappointed that 2 other anglers were there already in the best swims. They said they had booked through the farmer, though this was found to be untrue as the farmer had no knowledge of this. They paid whatever and were allowed to carry on. According to a farm worker anglers often turn up without booking.
Anyway they went in the afternoon we moved into the pegs and had 4 barbel upto 7lb and 3 chub to just under 4lb in around 3 hours fishing. The first part of the day we fished at the very top end of the beat but with no catch.

Booked over my mobile £15+£3?? Anyway got to the river 12-45pm, slightly above Summer levels. Chose last swim on the LH bank, not a good move! Evil snag just in front of the over hanging willow at the tail of the eddy. Lost 4 complete rigs and 3 fish (this really needs sorting please W.U.F). 15LBS braid coming back looking like it had been cut with a knife! Hopefully fish will ditch barblees hooks and swivel, my in line feeder rig means the feeder detaches as soon as main line breaks? Keep this in mind if you fish this swim please. Time to move, well I still had a few rigs left. Crossed bridge and fished in front of trees 80m from bridge down stream. 2 x 10mm elips hair riged on in-line feeder saw me take 4 Barbel to 6 lbs in first 1 1/2 hours. Bite's dried up from 4-30pm would be very easy to associate with 3 cormorants turning up and very clear water conditions? Left at 6-30pm. did notice a MINK on the far bank around 6pm!

3 nice Chub and 4 good Barbel to 9lb 14oz to one rod after a biteless afternoon of trotting, switching to proper Barbel gear into dusk. The other rods had nil bites bar one which lost a big fish and one landed a Chub of 3lb. Everybody fishing the top part of the fishery in high Summer conditions and low levels, all using pellets. My pals were more than pleased for me!

Wonderful stretch of water with just about every type of swim imaginable. Weather was too bright for much action during the day but as soon as the sun went behind the trees, the action started. Had three barbel (4lb, 4lb & 7lb) in the last hour. Lost a double figure fish after a twenty minute battle. Last hour made up for 6 hours of inactivity.
A bad days fishing beats a good days working!
