Fishing in the worst rainfall imaginable seemed like madness but managed 3 hours between 2pm and 5 pm and was rewarded with 4 fish the biggest being a Wye PB at 11lbs 4oz before the banks became too dangerous to land and return fish.
Thanks to the WUF for all the terrific work they have done on this stretch.

My prefered part of the beat at the bottom end was flooded so I fished the last swim on the high bank. I had 8 barbel to 9lb, all caught on halibut pellet and soft spicy sausage soft pellets. The river turned a chocolate colour at 5 o clock and then rose 10ft in the next 12 hours.

Seven Barbel all between 7lb and 9lb. Needed large feeders to hold bottom with hemp and 3mm pellets. All fish on pellet. Sun came out and a very pleasant afternoon and evening. Cardiac Hill not as bad as I remembered. A beautiful venue, fished the first field and the Croy was three feet under water.

River running quite hard but perfect weatherwise. Stayed to late evening although fish were caught throughout the day. One angler had 12 barbel to about 9lbs and one chub, the other had three barbel to 8lbs and one chub both fishing downstream of the approach path - mainly on pellet but with several on meat. Some bites were tentative, others whey hey! Don't be afraid to fish close in to the bank. Current such that we had to. Parking only for one car on the LHS 30yds beyond the gate entrance to the field as recent flash floods have eroded the entrance to it and the ground is very soft.

Fished at the top end myself. Took 12 chub to 3lbs and caught 4 barbel to 9lbs. Lost 4 getting 12lbs line snapped.
Of the others, one caught similar quantity near the islands, biggest barbel 8lbs.
One guy blanked, and the other caught chub only, biggest 3.5lbs.

Fished downstream of the orchard. I had 4 barbel and B. had 3, all a good stamp of fish. Interesting swims, several feet up and strong current. Easy access although downstream section is headheight with thistles and nettles. Shame about the cattle and the big bull. A WUF gem.

On my own as unfortunately my pal went down with shingles. Wet day with lots of water in the river. Didn't stay late but managed 2 chub and a barbel. Ian met me and gave me a friendly and helpful introduction. Look forward to coming back to this beautiful stretch in proper Summer.
