Nine barbel to 8lb+ and three chub between the two of us. A beautiful Autumn day even if the fish were fairly uncooperative.

First time at Courtfield, water rising and fair amount of weed pushing through. A real pleasure to meet Don the owner had a good chat with him, (what a down to earth chap), he also gave my friend Phil and I a bit of advise on the beat, Phil took his advise (good job someone listens), he moved producing after 2pm fishing pellet over pellet 4 barbel, 4.8, 6.0, 6.8, a cracking 10lb 12ozs and a chub of 5lb. I decided to stay put and had chub of 4.6 and a barbel of 6.2 most enjoyable. Found some great accommodation a mile away called the Jovial Colliers Bunkhouse, great value for money and the owners Denise and Tony were most obliging.

Fished for pike but no luck on this occasion. However, still enjoyed a good day out - great scenery - bailiff was also helpful.

Arrived about 0900, a really tough day with only a couple of bites but I did manage to catch a beautiful Barbel to about 8lb's. Another Fisherman appeared later but I do not think he was successful. A few coloured salmon jumping.
Beautiful surroundings and a wonderful river. Thanks to WUF

Arrived at about 10.00 - lovely looking fishery didn't catch today though. Another angler struggled too but he did manage a barbel. I had to leave at about 4pm to go home sadly. I will be back next year. Thanks WUF.

Actually booked for salmon fishing and fished for a couple of hours to practice my casting as it's been a while. None caught but did see two jumping. Switched to coarse fishing and caught 1 chub 4.1/4 Lbs and one barbel 5.1/2 Lbs both in perfect condition caught on hemp and spicy sausage pellets .

We arrived to the river to find it was in good condition. 1 x 4lbs barbel and 1 x 3lbs chub in the morning. My friend K.T. had 8 barbel between 3 to 7lbs at around 3pm. I had another 7 barbel after 6pm, the last 4 fish over 7lbs.
A great day. I got broken by something really big, our guess was a big carp. A lovely strech of the Wye, hard going but best early morning and during the last 2 hours when the big barbel came out on a feeding frenzy. We will be back.

Fishing wise, a very slow start to what was one of the most beautiful days I've ever spent by the river - what a location. We did however finish up with about 30 barbel between the 2 of us, from 5 different swims right from the very upper and lower limits, and from the old bridge supports. Awesome fishing, river, company, and location. Thanks WUF.

We fished the cattle field downstream from the Orchard.
The weather was warm with sunny periods and the river was fairly low and clear. A beautiful stretch of water. Between the 2 of us we caught 8 barbel ranging from 5 to 8 pounds. All fish were hard fighting and in pristine condition.
We will return next year to try another beat of this superb river. Some pegs on this beat need better access - You need to be fit and agile !!

River 1 foot up and falling. The three of us started off fishing on the 'beach' across to the deeper water, but all that came from that was a 6lb barbel for me. Dad wandered downstream rolling meat and had one chub of 2lb. we all moved to the top of the beat to the slower, deeper water and fished swims that looked well used. Merv lost a barbel and had a chub bite, while I didn't have a touch. Dad had one barbel of 6lb, 2/3 of the way across. Both barbel were taken on halibut pellet with a feeder of mixed pellet.

It's worth noting that the opposite bank to this beat seems very heavily fished. there were several anglers up and down the stretch throughout the day and the swims looked very heavily worn and the barbel I caught had a couple of old wounds in it's mouth. I would suggest if you're looking for a session on virgin barbel, this probably isn't the beat for you. It also sows a seed of doubt in your mind as to whether these fish are getting tackle-shy.
