Started off in the orchard area, river very low and weather unhelpfully sunny to begin with. We waded out to the small gravel island and cast to the run across to the far bank. The spot produced 8 barbel of a surprising high average size, with 6 fish between 7lb and 8lb plus. In addition to the barbel, we had about 15 chub to 4lb plus, and again the average size of these was much higher than we've encountered on other stretches.
We moved downstream mid afternoon but this turned out to be a mistake as we only caught a further 2 small barbel and 3 smaller chub.
Nice to get a bend in the rod again on a very pleasnt stretch.

Just a couple of hours spent here. 1 good barbel each, around the 7lb mark. Found this beat OK for an evening and would be better with around 2ft extra water maybe.

6 barbel to 7lb+, 6 chub to 3lb+, one 2lb+ eel. Most fish to pellet or corn. One powerful fish lost to a hook pull, maybe a foul-hooked barbel. All but one from the downstream end, and most fish caught in the morning. River still carrying a few inches of water and a little colour, but both level and colour dropping out during the day. A nice day on a pleasant stretch of river.

Five Barbel to 8lb and four chub to 5lb 4oz, good days fishing and very enjoyable. Fished the first swim near the power lines, lost lots of end tackle due to rocks, my advice would be to use strong main line and end gear at least 8lb and fish well out as large rocks are in near third. Also when playing fish keep rod high to get them back over rocks otherwise they dive straight into them.
tight lines!!

Second day, different beat. Really liked this attractive stretch, despite very steep foot only access and stile to river bank (why not a gate?) which puts elderly, trolley-encumbered anglers (me!) at risk of cardiac arrest. Managed it, and results well worth the struggle. River fining down, weather hot and bright but barbel, perverse creatures, fed in two concentrated spells at midday and in evening. Seven beautiful, hard-fighting fish betgween 5lb and 9lb, halibut pellets over hemp. Feeding hard when I had to pack up to tackle the great ascent back to car.

Lovely days fishing, took 7 barbel to 8lb, roaming around. Took 5 from one swim, blanked on 2 others and came back to fish original swim taking another 2 (lost 2 barbel). River fining down nicely @ 2ft over, caught on halibut pellet, with soaked pellet and hemp in feeder. Also caught on legered crab bolie and crab paste. Beautiful surroundings, very sunny and hot (sun tan as well). Happy Days!

River up six feet over night and rising. Having never visited this stretch before it made swim selection diffficult as they were all under water. Tons of weed and rubbish coming down. Settled on the only slackwater available. One Barbel of 7lb caught on pellet and one lost.
