Fished the stretch on Sunday. Nice quiet little beat. Only 2 small chub, but I was fishing Symonds Yat in the evening so I tackled for that. I fished a feeder but I’m sure trotting a float would be the method. Saw some fish moving, and stalking is the way forward. Will let you know how I get on!

Chub only today. Barbel staying amongst streamer weed, of which there is a lot, making them difficult to land. Next time, with different tactics, I expect to do a lot better.
Access excellent and for the first time on the Wye, my dad, who walks on crutches was able to get down to the river and back up again unassisted. The path to drive down is a bit confusing to find at first. The only way I can describe it is to go straight on through the entrance gate, through two other gates (which aren't mentioned in the description) and you'll end up at the miniature fishing hut.

I wouldn't like to drive out of the gate on my own though. There's absolutely no way of seeing the road left or right, and it can be fairly busy at times, so I wouldn't recommend fishing this one alone.

2 Rods fished 06.00 until 10.30 landing 2 foul-hooked minnows (1 each). Returned to fish 16.00 until 21.30. Rod 1 did not improve his (my) bag. Rod 2 landed 2 barbel one at 7 and 1/4 lbs (20.00) the other at 7 and 1/2 lbs (21.20). Both fish taken on 14mm halibut pellets. Frustrating day on some very good water in an excellent setting. We will be back.

An enjoyable day on a beautiful stretch of river. Fished from 6.00am until 11.30am and caught quite a few Chub but no sign of any Barbel. Returned at about 4.30pm and tried a different swim; this time the Barbel were kind to me and I finished at 9.30pm with a tally of 12 Barbel to 7:7 and 12 Chub. I was especially pleased because I caught 5 of the Barbel trotting with the centrepin, which is a great way to catch them. Most of the Barbel had a lot of fish lice (argulus?) on them; doesn't seem to be doing them much harm however because they were otherwise in good condition and all swam off strongly.

Thanks very much, excellent service from WUF, I'll definitely be back!

Like most of the Wye there's a lot of river with no barbel in it, but if you can locate them, they are there in numbers. Thirty barbel to eight and a half pounds, plus supporting chub today. At times I didn't manage to get the rod in the rest. But I shouldn't be telling you this ...

2 barbel to approximately 9lb plus - not weighed - both caught on ledgered luncheon meat - fish in good condition - unmarked. Numerous chub caught both trotting and ledgering. River level continuing to fall - much less colour - bright sunshine for most of the day. Several salmon seen crashing on the surface.

Arrived at this beat very early and was into fish straight away. I had 4 barbel between 6 and 8lb in the first 2 hrs and my fishing partner had 3 barbel between 4 and 6lb and a chub. Then the sun got on the water and the fish went off so we spent the rest of the day roving this lovely beat and had a further 4 barbel upto 6lb and 6 chub upto 5lb ish. I had a lovely time trotting with sweetcorn and caught some very good dace upto 8ozs but were mostly 5 or 6 ozs. It was a shame we had to leave at 5pm because we would of had a few more fish I feel.

We had an unexpected salmon angler for a couple of hours on the beat but despite seing a few fish jumping he didn't get one. Had a good chat with the baliff he was very helpful and had a few good storys to tell. Many thanks for a truely lovely day.
