A very nice day for all 3 off us. A big thanks to Stephan not just for this visit but also our 2 previous visits. The Do's and Do not's very much appreciated. His help makes the day more enjoyable.

8 barbel all ranged from 6-9lb, which is a good stamp for the Wye and 3 lost in snags. 27 Chub 1-5lb. All caught throughout day.

Got caught out by the fast rising water, alright until all the Summer’s debris started moving down the river, It was a branch a cast by early afternoon. I would be cautious on the mud track after rain. Glynn, the ghillie, was very helpful.

We only fished the afternoon and with a rising river with debris going through made it tricky, we was however rewarded with a low double figure barbel and some clonking chub over 5+ lb in fading light.

Gave up fishing the two pegs on the left bank as they were pretty unsafe and moved to the opposite side with the waders and a pin / float rod.

Had a great afternoons sport on the meat trotting the inside crease with the odd random cast in the middle.

Back on the feeder (garlic pellet) for the last hour of the day and a large barbel was lost at the last knockings.

A beautiful spot and I’m glad we took float gear as it was the best way to fish it. The owl was hooting and tooting as we left.

Did not fish, swims inaccessible. Bottom field was fishable but about one hundred cows got there first. Will not be going back.

Heavy going after very heavy rain overnight.
Beware - the banks are very steep and treacherous, really need some maintenance especially when wet.

After the heavy rains the night before the incline past the house and through the gate, even with the revetting in place , the trek around the wooced area is impassable … and I mean impassable. Fell numerous times like Bambi on ice and I’m relatively fit. Taken the two bottom fields out of play this is certainly not a beat for three anglers. Two fellow anglers had to share the only fishable swim on beat by hut leaving me no option but to fish the very end swim on right hand side. This was impossible to land fish from indeed ended numerous times on my backside grasping at foliage and ferns. Only two fish landed but plenty of action as far as bites are concerned. Haven’t played rugby in ten years but have the same feel of exhaustion and war wounds as I walked of that day!!!!
Please heed my warning of the bank because it will be a very nasty accident for someone . And WUF heed this message I really am not joking ????????????
