Both fish caught before 9am, then the canoes arrived in their 1000’s. Would love to come to this venue again but next time to hire a canoe as the fishing went completely dead after they arrived. Is there any certain times or beats that isn’t swamped with people?

Some of the advice included is to try to avoid weekends and bank holidays when canoe traffic is at its heaviest, especially during low water in the summer months. If possible, concentrate your fishing on weekdays. Also, concentrate your fishing efforts early and late in the day when canoe traffic is at its lightest. These are also the times when fish are most active in summer.

1 Barbel, 1 Chub

Very windy day, river rising. First time fishing the Wye this season, absolutely loved it. Lots of Chub no barbel this time.

Great conditions and another early start with first a chub followed by 3 barbel and an eel. Canoes were a challenge as it was a BH and most very respectful

Barbel seem very localised in two swims. Great day, could have been even better but lost a good one at dusk. 8mm robin reds on straight lead. River was up slightly. Nice and sunny in the morning. Stormy in the afternoon.

7 Barbel, 2 Chub

3 common carp caught weighing in at 16lb 4oz,14lb 9oz and 17lb 2oz . The larger of the 3 had another anglers hook attached...a size 6 on a nylon trace which could only have been around a 7lb breaking strain !
I would really suggest if your targeting the carp use a minimum 12lb hook link,these carp really aren't shy to end tackle and many have never been hooked before
They are hard fighters and really tear off,7lb hooklink ain't gonna stop 'em !

3 Other

Chub a cast down on the bend at the island fishing to the trees on the opposite bank. Barbel came on at around an hour before sunset, although spooked by the few barbel we fought in the swim and the chub then got back on the bait.
One of the best stretches for coarse fishing on the wye!

Had a couple of hours rolling meat through a couple of swims. Not much interest but picked up a lovely chub of about 5lb towards the end of the session to top the day off. Many thanks.
