Difficult day of fishing, windy, river normal with a little colour. Fished 0900 to 1800 on the lower section, beach area below the bridge. 3 small chub and 1 around 4lb. Tried float, rolling meat and feeder/ pellet through the day. Had one barbel take late afternoon but it slipped off the hook. A beautiful stretch that looks so ‘Fishy’ but left a little disappointed.

Successful last minute negotiations for use of a few spare hours saw me at UHC which had produced a few barbel recently. Only fished it once (unsuccessfully) before so I don't know the swims. Slightly overcast, mild not hot, quite clear but nice flow in the top section which was dead last time. Started at 1700 in
the top section on bomb and pellet and had 3 Chub in the firdt hour. Finished with 4 Chub in the last hour on gb feeder and meat inc the biggest at 4.12, all the rest a good size too. No signs of barbel. Loads of Chub showing and move have slayed it on the float. Had to leave at 2015 but a really lovely evening and worth a return.

Lots of good chub here. I decided to go all out for the barbel in the evening and switched from 8mm Robin Red to Hinders Barbel Bomb. Big mistake as I only caught one chub after that. This whole beat feels a lot more overgrown since I was here three years ago. I was in a pretty tight swim below the wood. It would not have been my first choice as the bank was steep and the grass was quite slippery in the wet but my options felt limited. I am already booked in for next week so I shall scout the beat in advance to see what better swim options there are. And I will leave the Barbel Bomb at home.

Access out of the fishery requires a mirror on the opposite side to see oncoming traffic. Can’t see over or through the hedge and it’s dangerous.
Only negative otherwise a very well kept fishery. Superb first class venue.
Water condition low and warm ( low oxygen levels)
Wildlife in abundance/ well done land owner!
9 chub caught to 4lb.
Tactics float trotting and feeder / ledger meat.

Blank for one , 3 chub for another and 2 chub 2 barbel for me. Saw fish rolling just out in the river in the swim with the concrete ramp. Noticed it about lunchtime and witnessed it around 20 times. Too murky to identify whether it was barbel or salmon. No bites from them . Weather was pleasant and river running through nicely

The river was a bit above normal level but perfectly fishable, we fished in the top section in the rapids, fishing very slow as can be seen by the catch return
Method used fishmeal and pellet feeder with either a drilled 8mm pellet hair rigged or two fishmeal "flatz" superglued on a hair

This is a well looked after beat with plenty of swims to choose from. There were around half a dozen anglers on the opposite bank when we arrived. Many thanks to the bailiff who kindly had a word with two of them who were wading more than half way across the river and fishing in the water along the How Caple bank to remind them that they should not be doing this.
After they had been moved on we were able to fish these swims and these resulted in most of the fish caught on the day. Largest Barbel was 8lb.
5 Barbel, 8 Chub
