After beating that hill again, we settled in the top field for the morning, feeling that the woods swim would not be accessible.

The river was up from summer levels, fast and steady with a tinge of colour.

We caught steadily, barbel to 6lb and chub to 4lb before moving to the near field late afternoon, fishing by the hut. This produced a couple of chub and the largest barbel of the day of 7lb 12oz which fought like a tiger in the flow.

All fish were caught on the bottom with a mix of lead and feeder, meat, pellet and boilie.

A slow morning fishing from the rocks with no bites at all. Some extra water and colour in the river. Moving several times brought results with beautiful chub to 6 lbs falling to bread on the float and to method feeder. A few additional swims would be welcome in the first field as much of the bank is inaccessible. Thanks for a lovely day on the river WUF.

3 of us fished and had an unbelievable day - one that we will remember fondly, not counting the diabolical VAR decision that tarred the ending of the day.

The average size of fish was fantastic with a double falling to each rod and a smattering of 7's, 8's and the odd 9 making an appearance.

Got to give a special shout-out to whoever it was that cut the pegs out as a lot of work has gone in. The banks were deadly after the recent rain though and one of our party slipped and sprained their wrist whilst returning a barbel where there was no vegetation to break up the slick muddy surface.

4 anglers, 2 sharing a swim and rod. A few established swims in the meadow that were flat enough to fish from. Water high and running.

Fished downstream below the wood. Accessing the swim was difficult and would be impossible in wet weather. However, river stunning as usual, weather great and a superb days fishing topped by a 9 1/4lb barbel, along with a 6 1/2lb and a 7lb.

3 Barbel, 16 Chub
