The river looked really nice on this well maintained fishery, with sky grey and overcast throughout the day.
Despite this however we failed to get even a knock throughout the whole day, dispute trying a number of swims along the fishery and a combination of baits.
First blank this week.

Another great (but rather wet) day. Had to move around a bit to find the barbel but connected with them late afternoon. Again they were caught on feeder tactics. Looking forward to coming back next year.

Two anglers, both intent on trotting for Chub and Barbel. Conditions were superb, with good water levels, nicely overcast, and a little rain the day prior to freshen things up after a hot spell. On arrival, we were very frustrated to find that there were only two wadeable swims suitable for trotting with a centrepin. One Barbel caught (~8.5lb) on the first trot down and another hooked but lost later on. No sign of any small/medium chub and no other bites other than the three fish caught (Chub 4lb, eel) and lost. The water level dropped by ~6 inches whilst we were there making the first swim un-trottable. Overall, very disappointed by the lack of opportunity for our preferred method and not sure the beat is worth the £25 day ticket cost whatever method used. There are numerous other venues to sit behind a ledger rod, in equally pleasant settings, at a fraction of the cost. Not somewhere we'd come back to.

3 anglers fished, 1 barbel at 5lbs to corn, all chub to meat plus one 2lb eel to meat. Weather drizzly for best part of day, not much action. Because this stretch is not maintained / lack of available bank swims we were restricted to try different areas.

A lovely stretch, with some delightful trotting water. River with reasonable flow and fairly clear. A bright sunny day for the most part, only occasional clouds. Trotted meat baits, with a centrepin all day. Tried runs at the top of the beat, lower down (opposite the pylon) and at the bottom (just above the confluence). Most chub were around 1lb, a couple touching 2lbs, and one fish around 3lbs. Sadly no barbel.

Thankfully cool after last week but very sunny for most of the day. I'd hoped the bit of rain yesterday would cool the water temp enough to switch the fish on but no, 6 bites between us all day resulting in 3 Chub, a beautiful 9lb barbel and 2 barbel hook pulls. Tried hemp and gb feeders, and straight bomb with a load of hookbaits. Fished down the bottom and maybe should have moved to the top in the afternoon but the swims in the bottom field looked most likely in the conditions. Still a glorious day on a beautiful beat with great work done on it.
