I had a fantastic day on Thomas Wood fishery catching 2 barbel (5 lb and 2 lb) and 2 chub. I started with 14 mm halibut pellets but had no significant bites. I caught all the fish when I changed to luncheon meat. Thanks the Fishing Passport for sorting out my day ticket.

First time on this stretch with three anglers in our group. It was quite tough going and required plenty of roving the entire stretch throughout the day to find the fish. We managed three barbel between us (all in immaculate condition, the biggest a beautiful 8lb 6oz), 8 chub and 1 eel, all on ledgering tactics.
A lovely stretch, quite difficult with the overhanging trees in a lot of the swims and not really a wading/trotting location unless the river is really low and you can get out in it, and again only possible in a few swims I would suspect (deep in the margins with steep banks).
Really nice to be able to park right down by the river in the middle of the stretch via the gate alongside the line of trees (removing the two electric fence gateways - and of course re-attaching them!), but this wouldn't be possible once it starts getting wet and muddy.

GOOD NEWS BAD NEWS.
FIRST THE FARMER HAS PLOUGHED THE ORIGINAL TRACK UP LEAVING A ROUGH TRACK WHICH YOU WOULD NOT WANT TO ATTEMPT ON A WET DAY WITHOUT 4 WHEEL DRIVE ? WHICH YOU WOULD HAVE A LONG WALK TO THE RIVER.
THIS FISHERY IS A PLEASURE TO FISH BECAUSE OF THE EASY BANKS ECT. UNFORTUNATELY THE FISH EACH YEAR HAVE BEEN HARDER AND HARDER TO FIND SO WILL CROSS THIS VENUE OFF OUR LIST.

Bit of a grey drizzley start but a dramatic turn around as the day went on . Another good day, all fish were in mint condition and beautifully bronzed . Both chub around 3lb smallest barbel 6lb , last one weighed in at 9.5lb . All gave a valiant scrap , cracking ! What a weekend !

Didn’t fish this day. Directions were poor and could not get kit to swim.
