Perfect conditions today , overcast and the river was up and rising . Still a little bit of weed coming down but much less than the days before . Tried rolling meat to start with ,only managed one chub with this method . It proved quite difficult with the fast water ripping the bait off , so pellets it was . Lots of bites in between takes to keep you on your toes . Barbel were 4 to 6lb no sign of the huge shoals of small barbel that this beat is known for , this must occur when the river is lower . Both chub over 3lb and fought just like the barbel in the fast water . If you’ve never fished here before be aware that this beat is full of snags ! I always use a helicopter full of SSG shot , or a thread through weight , this works very well here . Didn’t loose one rig all day , I did loose 2 fish though which is always gutting but still a good session . Lydbrook is stunning , a perfect day !

Fished between about 0930 to 1700, river was very high for time of year and stayed high all day. Running ledger and pellet baits and fished the last swim downstream left bank. The steps made it easy landing the fish as we had to fish from the top of the bank due to river height.
Always easy to book through fishing passport!

Another great day on this fantastic stretch , be careful when leaving the fishery at the top end of the beat as track is passable but very overgrown

River up slightly and coloured. Fishing my favourite peg, in top beat, found it hard going with weed being washed down river. Fished from 6am to midday no sign of barbel, 10 small Chubb caught on feeder with 12mm Red Robin pellet.

10 Chub
