Tackled the hill for the second day and found the river up by a foot. Still fairly slow but had barbel to 9-1 and the best chub was 3lb. Again pellet feeder worked best. Otter still about after spotting yesterday.

Was here about 2 months ago where the bites came thick and fast from the smaller barbel and bagged up !
A bit different this time round , the river much higher and flowing faster . Bites much slower but the bigger barbel have moved back in !
I’ve recently read bad reviews about this place . It is a very snaggy stretch of river due to the rocky nature of it , but It does produce.
I did lose 3 barbel toady which is always heartbreaking, but there where glorious moments to . Barbel were in mint condition and beautifully bronzed .
Great location , a perfect weekend on the Wye . Superb !

Short afternoon session on the river. Slow start with bites coming in the late afternoon and early evening. Fish in excellent condition - would come back for a longer session. Access to river was good although there was heavy rain in the morning, so 4WD recommended.

Although good conditions, water height and colour decent, weather dry and a little overcast, bites were hard to come by. We only had 1 fat eel from the croy at the top of the beat on ledgered meat and a chub in the slow section at the bottom of the beat on pellet with swimfeeder. The croy, with faster water is a good walk up if you’re carrying gear, beware. Looks a great spot for float fishing but alas we were only equipped for ledgering tactics. Some work is needed to open up a few more swims in the faster water section. Saw kingfishers and a large fresh salmon leap upstream of the croy next to opposite bank a few times. A few respectful canoes came past.
