Enjoyable day on a beautiful stretch of the Wye. Barbel was 7lb.8oz and fell for three grains of sweetcorn. Lost another and had an immaculate Chub over over 4lb.Will be back.

Fished one of the weir pool swims. Started on the float with meat and had 4 chub to 3lb. Changed to feeder in the afternoon with pellets and had a slightly bigger chub at dusk. The river was visibly rising by late afternoon but was still very clear.
All in all a slow and difficult day and very wet and windy.

A sunny afternoon with a strong upstream wind and the river still low and clear, though with a decent flow on this beat. I started to fish after the midday rain had passed. One barbel caught and one lost between 16.00 and 17.00. Nothing else, other than a few chub rattles around sunset.

Booked this a while back and was hoping for a river about 1m however it had dropped to 0.22 after the rise at the weekend and was clear. Fished fields 1 two and three (didn't try field four) in both faster and slower water with only two of the fish coming from the faster water. Biggest barbel was 6lb (fast water) and two were babbies. Top swim was most productive using a hemp feeder and feeding pellets by catty over the top with pellet or meat on the hook. Bites were not rippers and were difficult to spot in a heavy gusting wind particularly in the swims in the third field without upwind tree cover. One blank among the four of us so not a complete day but a day on the Wye.......

Shocking weather with pouring weather all day and river rose by 3' during the day. Managed one small barbel and 3 good sized chub before the river levels forced us off the bank.
