The river was extremely low and there were features showing that had not been seen in decades. The banks needed a great deal of care to get down to land a fish. A long landing net handle is necessary. All of the fish were caught in the deeper water. The swim upstream of the fence is productive but a rope is a must in my opinion, if you are not keen on getting your feet wet.

This stretch should not be offered by the Wye and Usk or anyone else. Before getting the tackle out of the car we decided to look for places as this stretch is notorious for lack of swims. Having walked down from the car park and up from the Church car park this was proved to be true. The only places we might have tried were not actually part of their beat. It might be different in Winter but in Summer / early Autumn it should be avoided. We wasted £25 each and had to go elsewhere. Very unhappy indeed

River very low as expected, but it is clear and it’s good to see more weed than on our previous visits but fish hard to come by. Very few bites and only one Barbel between two anglers.

Enjoyable day’s fishing.
Most chub caught from Lucky Stone trotting bread. Fewer chub and one barbel on meat on the feeder.
Late afternoon chub in the double swim at the end of the first field from the woods. And frustratingly one decent barbel lost from the same swim on meat pellet.
