Tough day, can't even blame an excess of canoes, to be fair. Not a flicker on the lead and pellets in the morning - on both the lower and upper sections of the fishery. A few small chub on trotted luncheon meat on the bottom stretch in the afternoon.
I had the whole fishery to myself and did note a distinct lack of bookings for this fishery at the moment on the passport website. I can't help feeling that perhaps others know something I don't!

All fish returned in professional manner. Method used was open sliding cage feeder and long hook link. River condition was at a low level but good flow through the centre.

Very low water levels so difficult fishing conditions. A little bit disappointed with the stretch as no swims cut so access was difficult .

I have fished a few times here but this was by far the lowest water experienced....but a short morning session produced some good fishing on the float and the very welcome return of a large shoal of Dace....plenty of 6-12 oz Chub too and 4 bigger ones made for steady action until they spooked...There seem to be increasing numbers of Goosanders on the river which could be contributing to the Dace demise so it was a real pleasure to catch quite a few of a decent size for a change...

Plenty of good Chub here with the best being a 5lb 8oz fish in very healthy condition which will probably grow bigger....A 6 pounder has always evaded us...2 Rods fished and action was steady all day but no Barbel again which is a feature of the low water if you fish in our experience during the daylight hours here.....Boat traffic was fairly light too which was surprising in view it was a glorious late summer day...Maybe the novelty of the lockdown regatta canoe/kayak trips down the Wye experience is starting to subside? On a positive note it was a pleasure to land the odd Chub with some weed over it's nose...that has not happened for a couple of years...Great beat and always seems to produce consistently despite the pressure.
