first time we have booked this length, quite impressed. Not driveway all the fuss is about the hill of doom, easily manageable in 2 standard cars.

Lucky stone proved hard going and unusually quiet in the morning. A move to the top of the upstream section produced some quality barbel to 7:13. The stretch on the bottom/last field of the downstream section is a complete waste of time. There is no access to the river whatsoever. It’s a shame as it looks a nice stretch.

We mostly fished the downstream bottom end of the beat (for the first time so we could experience the whole of this stretch) very few swims in the first field below the woods, but a few tasty ones further down

Weirdly for this beat the barbel were not pushed aside by the chub, most fell to pellet in various swims, the end swim is difficult to reach now , bring waterproof boots if you fancy the walk! Brilliant day on a great best that rarely fails to deliver.
