Having had a little rain overnight and visiting my favourite MHC I was hopeful of us doing better than we did on the Creel the day before. However this was quickly dampened by Steffen on arrival who thought our chances of catching more than chub were limited. Still we anglers are optimistic eejits and we started in the fast water with hope. Under the circumstances it was a perfect day: PJ who had to go early had 2 barbel of 5 and a babber at 2 before he left; IC (Wye virgin) moved into his swim and had 2 5s; I had my first float caught barbel in the slower deeper water alongside a couple of chub, and a barbel back in the faster water both at close to 7lb. We then got totally drowned when the heavens opened and someone looking like Noah came past in a canoe who, like the others who passed us today was very considerate and polite. No records broken but my target of barbel for all was met.
Thank you again WUF.

Water temperature had cooled after heavy rain on days prior to fishing. Fished both the wooded area - close to car park - and half way down the meadow all to no avail. Nothing showing to either legered or float fished baits of all kinds. Anglers on bank opposite did not catch either. Pestered by young ducks diving for our baits in the wood area. Bottom there is covered with filamentous green-brown algae/weed which makes fishing bottom baits awkward at times. Will not bother again until there is a lot more water on, hopefully later in the year.

River level still low but a cloudy day with some rain showers. Used meat and various types of pellet but could only temp the Chub to feed despite fishing the faster water swims.
