5 barbel caught, and 4 lost to snags and hook pulls. All on feeder pellet except for best fish caught on luncheon meat.

5 Barbel, 3 Chub

The river was low but not clear, the water had a dark brown tinge to it which I haven't seen before. Weather was warm with the odd bright spell but mainly cloudy. We arrived around three and fished swims down the length of the beat using straight lead or waggler with pellet. Barbel were reluctant to feed but the Chubb made up for their absence and provided us with some great sport, all fish were in very good condition. Three Barbel and twelve Chubb between the two rods

Lovely day in stunning surroundings. Left cash in church but still got a note on windscreen!

4 Barbel, 15 Chub

Another very enjoyable day on our favourite beat. Fished 3 hours before going back for lunch at 1.30 which produced 4 Barbel, 2 of these going 9.11 and 9.7. Started again late afternoon with 7 further Barbel including 3 over 8lbs. Fished the gully in the faster water using mainly PVA bags. Hoping for similar success tomorrow when we return!

lost one fish in the snags soon after arrival then not a bite all day until 8.30pm when I was rewarded with a fish I had caught earlier in the week with a distinctive split tail

New venue for us, interesting access to the beat.
Mixed weather of sun and overcast but no rain, ideal day. River height looked good but very coloured. We are more used to the middle Wye beats with fast shallow and clearer water. This has deep runs with a slower river pace. We had some good weight chub but the barbel deluded us. We tried a variety of baits that have been previously successful, just one of those days.
The location is stunning, a beautiful part of the Wye Valley.

River was in good nick after recent rains and the fish obliged accordingly.
All fish taken in the faster water in the wood section and bait choice didn’t matter as fish taken on meat sweetcorn pellets etc.
Most chub 3.5 to 4lb bracket and barbel 6 to 7 pounds
Great days sport.

River not high but had some colour.

8 barbel to 9lb.5 oz using feeder and pellet. Slight swell in river from previous days rains improved our chances. Had a nice chat with Steffan the bailiff who has to be commended for all the great work he has put in on this beat cutting in swims, steps and putting in ropes for safer access.
