Lovely spot , some nice Chub today but no Barbel unfortunately.

Very nice river to fish however this left bank beat dose not have many accessible swims if you are going to fish this stretch get a evening ticket,You will be plagued with hundreds of kayakers through your the day

Fished the wooded section and was into chub straight away. Caught on all methods and any bait.
No sight of a barbel.

Only one rod fished between 11 and 7.30 and not much caught but still an enjoyable day on this peaceful stretch....There are plenty of small fish and I caught plenty of 4 to 12 ounce Chub and a couple of good dace....Unfortunately just one proper bite produced a solitary good Chub and leaving early kept the return pretty meagre.Quite enjoyed the company of some long tailed tits in the trees above me and the boat traffic was all courteous and not too frequent so will look forward to returning.

Two common carp in the morning (within 5 minutes of each other) weighing 12lb and 13lb. One eel and a bunch of silvers.

This is such a spectacularly scenic place to fish. It is a real privilege to be able to fish here.
The river had dropped a little further from the previous day and was running quite clear.
The fishing itself was quite hard. Chub could be caught but tended to back off quite quickly and were reluctant to feed for long. It was a case of constantly chopping and changing to keep bites coming. Managed to try all of the likely looking pegs along the stretch. Chub were caught from all of them.
Barbel were once again hard to come by. Only one was landed all day.
A guided party of paddle boarders used the ‘beach’ area on the inside of the bend opposite The Weir Garden as a picnic site. This was despite the fact that I was clearly fishing there already. They appeared to be very relaxed about this and I gathered that this is a regular stopping off point. Might be worth bearing in mind for anyone else that is planning to fish there.

While this is an unhelpfully vague clause in the legislation, it would be safe to assume that picnics would not be classified as an "emergency" and are in fact a trespass. In these situations, we ask that anglers politely request the name(s) of the company or organisation that is guiding the group (without ever putting yourself in danger) and pass this information on to us. We or the land/fishery owner will then be in touch with them.

Only one bite on a hit and bright daŷ. Lovely barbel weighing 8 pounds 2 ounces.
