Full of expectation but unfortunately only a couple of Barbel to show for a lot of effort

Didn’t get as long as I’d hoped. Conditions seemed good with some colour in the river but could not tempt much. 1 chub and a couple of eels from the slower upper section. Other anglers were on the lower faster water so left them in peace. Will try the lower end next time as looked good

Caught on float and feeder from various swims at the lower end of the beat Had chub to around 4lb on float fished meat Then had one barble around 5lb and several more chub on the feeder

fishing for barbel was very arduous for whatever reason, the only one caught was out of the nursery at less than a pound, the others were 9 Dace & 1 eel. some of the dace were very big, all caught on legered 8mm pellets with a feeder.
We did have a problem around midday when a canoe business owner turned up stating that he was going to land around 8 canoes in the fishing hut swim, despite our protests he said that he paid the owner of the stretch for this facility, the result was that we had around 8 canoes milling around the swim while being dragged one by one up the bank and carried to waiting transport, our fishing equipment had to be moved out of the way to avoid being trampled on and needless to say we caught very little after all of this commotion, we were not happy especially as we had paid a lot of money to fish this swim and didn't expect to share it with a load of canoes

Rather a slow day. Not a single good barbel bite.
All chub were small. 1 eel on luncheon meat

Feeder fished meat and pellets on a low river ,most of the fish fell to meat including 5 eels,canoes were a problem at times due to lack of consideration for other river user's

Bad day never seen so many canoes in my life !

Great day all barbel were caught on pellets and were caught through out the day . Biggest just under 10lbs and chub to 4lbs .

The Pulpit Pool is acclaimed to be a good spot to fish and is clearly shown on the maps and described in the accompanying notes but sadly there are no cut swims to allow safe fishing in this area, i.e. the top end of the boundary on the right bank. The whole of the left bank is in-accessible due to the fact that wading across would be perilous even in low water. It would be great to see a proper swim with wooden steps at the top end of the right bank making this pool accessible to anglers.

On a more positive note this is a beautiful location.
