On and off kind of day weather wise with a persistent strong wind for most of it! Good numbers of mayfly for most of the afternoon, water still very low and clear made for some challenging fishing, yet to see a coloured river this season! All fish caught on a Procter mayfly CDC.

3 Trout

JUST ON DRIES,JUST SAW 3 FISH RISE ,ALTHOUGH ALOT OF UPWINGS VERY FEW FISH RISING .ALTHOUGH NOTHING NOT EVEN A TAKE HAD A GREAT FEW HRS ON A VERY BEAUTIFUL BEAT, WILL BE BACK

An evening session here and the water was low of course but still chugging along v nicely and very fishable ! Deliciously cool water & lots of shade. Lovely.
A few mayfly knocking about and a few olives too but nothing to really get them going up top. Reasonable numbers of varied bugs on the stones and rocks. Tons of midge larvae! The ranunculus hasnt got going yet which was surprising?
Impressive spinner clouds over the banks late evening, but thats where they stayed ! No sedge showing late on.
Happy with the two fish , one maybe pushing a pound (both on a 16 para adams) and a fair few more fluffed too and the locations of a good number of decent fish now noted for another time . Wait and watch is the game here for sure.

2 Trout

A bright, hot day with an east wind, but I had hoped that the previous evening’s thunderstorms would have freshened up the river & the fish. There was a small lift in water height with a slight tinge. Despite covering most of the lower half of the beat, prospecting with dries & nymphs in the absence of any rising fish, there was not a hint of a take all afternoon & evening. I did, though, enjoy a beautiful Spring day in a serene setting, with kingfishers & sandmartins going about their business.

Overcast day, cold wind, still low water, still waiting for the hatches…a couple of rises, only one Beautiful Brown Trout, which put up a good fight.

Arrived at about 6pm Started fishing just below footbridge There were several fish rising But couldn’t temp them with dries either black midge nor olives .hooked and lost1 large trout on gold beaded p t n above footbridge

One Trout 12” returned. Lovely conditions . Caught on PTN. Returned early as unfortunately broke my rod!

Overcast day with slight breeze from south west. Fished 11am to 4pm, upstream dry fly. One 12" trout taken, caught on a pale yellow olive. Two other bites missed. Not a lot of fish showing but a few rises to pale olive hatches throughout the day. Beautiful stretch of river, easily accessible with waders but a few deep channels to be wary of.

Started at midday and fished for 4 hours, initially using a dry Mayfly pattern with a hard foam body. Despite there being very little fly life I rose plenty of fish, some of which appeared to be of a good size, but was unable to hook any. Fearing the fish were rejecting my fly the second they touched it I changed to a Stimulator. I hooked and landed the first fish which came to it.
I have fished this beat for the past 8 years around May and June time, and believe the river bed, especially in the slower stretches, is becoming more coated in slimy weed. A real shame for a beautiful stretch of river.
