Work keeps me away from the water for most of the summer so it was good to be able begin my autumn/winter season. I fished from 10 - 4.
The water level was lower than any other visit I have made and the vegetation on the banks taller! In fact this was the first time I could safely fish the very last pool of the beat which is surprisingly deep. Despite favourable weather conditions I could count the amount of rises I saw on one hand despite a good deal of insect activity. Nothing much occurred until late morning when I found 3 trout and one very fit grayling , all around 10", from a pool that I have never caught anything in before!! All on a 16 Adams. 3 Trout, 1 Grayling

3 hours on the Pontithel-Llynfi 3 grayling and a 1lb wbt,size 16 ptn. Spotted some large grayling in the first pool. Onto the Dulas middle beat for 2 hours 3 wbt in the fast runs again on small ptn. No rises throughout day.

Very low water, but nice fish. Caught grayling up to 12 inch in a fast run.

Only fished this beat for 2 hours. Very nice river, but a little more water would have been nice.

River woefully low, the lowest I have ever seen it, pools which are usually waist deep are knee deep or less!!!
Anyway I saw plenty of trout and grayling, problem was they saw me first!!! lol
Did see a BIG trout (at least 2lb) but got nowhere near making a cast for him before he was off!

Lovely day, river low and v. clear despite the recent rain. Trickle of mayflies through the day, and others, did not excite the trout (although I had to leave by 6.30 so may have picked up later). Landed 4 (9 to 11") and missed more, all on para dries.

A lovely pool just above the Bridge was followed by quite a long stretch of unappealing water. Eventually the beat started to look better but the fishing was not easy. One of us fished deep nymphs downstream in fast water and caught 6 fish mostly in the first deep fast corner pool. The other persevered with upstream mayfly and caught nothing. We did not fish all the way to the top of the beat but headed off to spend the rest of our day on the Middle Llynfi Dulas.

Good fish 1x 1lb 2 oz. All fish returned.

River in good condition but an awkward brisk downstream wind. Not much flylife visible. Fished small dries (klinkhammers, shuttlecocks) and took 3 small (4") trout. Switched to a GRH nymph and took a better (9") fish from a hole.
