Strong gusting downstream wind coupled with a skinny river showing its bones meant for a tough old day. I was longing to catch on the dry, but I just couldn’t help but scatter the fish as I tried to cast to the rise, only for the wind to dump it short.
So after five hours of persevering I switched to Klink and Dink and broke my duck with two wbt on a ghgrhe, thank god for the blank buster.

An impressive mayfly hatch throughout the day with lots of fish rising in pool tails and the slower sections. All fish caught on dries with as many missed and spooked with bad casts and clumsy wading. Two tiddlers amongst the catch but the rest were plump, beautifully marked Arrow trout from 7 to 13".
Normally when taking photos of agricultural practice its of a horror show. Not today. In one of the fields the farmer has left a 10m buffer strip with grasses and wild flowers between crop and river - fantastic.

Beat easy to get to. One small trout caught. Cool dry day. River conditions good. Saw couple of fish rise. Would fish again.

Very little happening though lovely beat

Very hot day out today with very little wind.

My first time out on this beat and sadly I blanked, I did manage to hook a fish early on but unfortunately it threw the hook before I got it to hand.

A lovely beat with some very deep pools.

Water low and gin clear, the few fish were too easily spooked for my humble effort.

No fish caught. Only saw one fish during the 5 or 6 hours of fishing. Looked promising but water very clear and still low.
