A late session today ..... Fished 2 till neatly bang on five .... 20 degrees when I parked up...I walked up to Glan edw Farm, fishing the more quieter water and glides up there !!!
Superb too... some fun , with lots of smaller trout smashing mh dry fly!! All brilliant fun . In fairness today, eight fushvwerd probably peas in a pod ...About seven inches of so, with the remainder bring pukka feisty fat Edw fish !!@
We're in dire need of rain here .... big time . I came here, to thin out a few grey squirrels with the pneumatic. .22 ...I managed four, around the sheep creep.... so, not a bad start on their numbers, hence the fishing for a few hours afterwards....Weeeeeell, be rude not to hey !!! And in mayfly time too ....
Sport was fab if I'm honest... mega stealthy in low low warer !!! Those glides are fun ..... get the fish in quickly, and release tgrm fun stream, thrn rinse snd repeat.... If uouf quiet and stealthy, it's like that all the way up !!! Sublime sport!!!
Was getting difficult near five to see the dry fly in the dappled light on the water ... swagged it when I thought a splashy rise was to my fly ...Twice I was on the money...lol !!!
Anyway, another lovely session on a favourite, and a few grey squirrels in the bag too!! Andy will be pleased ..Back here sooooooooon , cold drink time ....lol !!!!

First time on this beat for a few years, I'd forgotten how much fun it was. Managed to hook and land ten fish, but missed many more takes.
Lovely day with the 6ft rod.

Another warm one .... twas either Cregrina or Hundred House today for a few hours !!! Done a load of home and garden jobs early bells, and conditioned my one weight fly line and buffed it up too, makes a huge difference folks on delicate presentation too ....Rio Agent X , fantastic stuff !!
Anyway, fished Cregrina, 11:30 till 2:45pm a lovely few hours, lots of upwings on parade, snd masses of hawthorns. Saw two Danica also ...Yeeesssssssss!!
They'll be switching on to those I'm guessing the main hatch will be in a week or two .... very early but, tis hot temperatures we are getting !!!
Fab sport over three odd hours ...A dozen feisty Edw fish ti my net !! Some strong athletic fish too ... Still I suppose if I was hooked in a foot of water I'd go baseerk also ....Lovely confident takes too . All cast to risers and that's just the essence of it all hey ...
Slow slow wading required though , in low low water, and casting on a sixpence . Drift had to be bang in thf bubble lane for instant success.... You know when it's going to be nailed ... you just know !!!!
Back at The Ponderosa, finish this report, then a mooch into Rhayader for a social cold one, well, be rude not to hey !!! Out next week with two clients one on a wild stream beat, and tother on a private beat near Leiminster .... lovely jubbley !!!

Well, I did intend to give the Lugg at Litton a bash, but I wanted to have a nose at the shooting that has been approved by the farmer at the Cregrina beat ....Overrun with grey squirrels hammering the feed out of the sheep creeps ....I can position myself on High ground, and pop them in the field before they arrive at the feeder ..... nice and quiet, with minimum disturbance......
Anyway , I then fished eleven till half three there,
only the bottom of the beat to the bridge, wasn't that stifling heat too.....only about 11 degrees and overcast too, nice !! Some risers and dry fly sport was good, in the smallest of pocket water too ...fun, fun, fun .....She's still very very low, and that bedrock in places is like ice..... A surreptitious approach here folks is muchly needed ......
Tiny dries scoring again .... There was a serious amount of surface activity from two, till half three, which took the lions share to the net ....Fifteen, all on dries, ranging from six to eleven inches, fantastic sport in fairness , lovely on the six foot , one weight rod !!!
Lots of olives and Large brook duns on parade and to be honest the Edw fish weren't that finicky, putting my dry bang on their noses, they were nailing it, just fab stuff !!!
So, overall a productive session, I'll get in position one of these early mornings, at sparrows fart, and make a dent in the grey squirrels population here !!!
A fun Sunday..... time for a stroll into Rhayader now I think, and a cold pint of Thatchers, sat outside The Lamb and Flag ...... lovely job !!!!!

Fished an old favourite eleven till four ...She is super low, we're in need of a good bit of rainfall !!! Above the bridge is super slow stealthy wading !!! Average water depth a foot !! Find tippets and tiny dries !!!
Some fish nailing terrestrial from off the sycamore leaves ....Greenfly abound the underside of sycamore leaves in summer !!! A good pattern to bung on when it's breezy under sycamore branches that are over hanging.....
Dry fly sport was sublime if not incredibly slow with stealthy wading !! Walking like Neil Armstrong on the moon .... every step had to be placed down carefully!!! Spooky alert fish in the low low water of the Edw .... Hot too, think it got uo to around 23 today ... lots of insects on the go ... hawthorn , baetis, large dark olives and some of thf smaller sedges .......
Slippery fish today .... eleven made it to the net, but also a good seven or eight didn't...tis how it goes sometimes hey !!!
Found two dead stone loach .... maybe the low water and high temperatures??? All fully intact, no bite marks, nothing ??? What is noticeable is the build up of algae here .... Three good days flushing it away is muchly needed ....
On stone turning, plenty of caddis, baetis nymph, stone crawlers and saw one tubby bullhead .... Always nice to see ....
A fun five hours, a good few to my net on dries, but boy oh boy she's low !!! If I'd recommend a wild stream to a visiting angler at the mo, it would be the Arrow at Court of Noke or the Hindwell at Knill ...Both hold their water very well !!
Anyway, hot weather means a trip to the fridge and a cool bottle of cider ....Cheers folks!!!!

Started the day at a buddies farm over Herefordshire, having a recce for some bunny bashing, later on in the Summer, then onwards to the Arrow at Whittern. Fished quickly between the two bridges, nothing looking up in that hour and a quarter, river at a great height, could perhaps do with a flush through, fish will be looking up very soon here !!
Onwards to s favourite local beat, thd Edw .... Fished from three till five . Plenty of insects to keep them looking up !!! Had some fun in the pocket water... fast as adders, managed five to the net ... only small chaps great fun on the dries though ......
A real Spring day with lambs, snakes head fritillary bordering the Artow, and watching a pair of dippers which was amusing...A fab couple of hours on what Is now nearly a river on its bones !!!! In April too ...But, the long range forecast does look more like April. With heavy showers and supposedly prolonged boughts of rain!!! We shall see ....Right, lots of leg work done, cider time !!!!! Lol .....

Wow, fantastic weather today !!! Looks decent all week in fairness....15 degrees maybe a tad more this afternoon, when I parked up by the bridge at 1145am. Insect on the go, s goof few large Darks, some March Brown's and even sedges seen about oneish !! The party of flying ravers certainly had the Edw trout looking up !!! Impressive stuff, stayed on ting dries all afternoon.
On this beat, I fished up to the bridge fish in thf fast stuff, nailing my dry!!! Superb sport, tis as if overnight we've jumped into mid May !!!
Fish between six and ten inches today, lovely confident takes on mh dry !!! Just love fishing my favourite small streams outfit, mh six foot , one weight fun fun , fun !!!
More skinned frogs seen and quite a few along the whole of the section I fished...looks like I may have just missed Tarka !!! Fresh prints everywhere !!@
Lovely two hour session, chilled out having my lunch at the bridge, decided with the day being do productive, I'd have a mooch up the road to Hergest !! We are in dire need of water to be honest !!
Packed kit in thd back of mh truck, onwards yo Hergest !!! A cracking little session fishing a single dry, on a favourite beat ....with seven or eight beauties to the net ....Happy days!!!

Funny sort of weather this morning!!! 13 degrees overcast, much like October tbh !! I decided I'd give the edw a crack , been a while since I've given this trib a fish ....
Got to the Cregrina bridge about tenish, river looking low and clear ....eeekkkkkk !!! Stealthy tactics today me thinks !! And that was just what was needed, fished dry as always, with my six foot, two weight tod,...and actually from half twelve quite a few rises, especially the tricky calmer water above the bridge to Glan Edw Farm ..Great solid takes to my Para Iron Blue.... spot on !!! Look like the trout were hitting on small black midgy stuff !!! Saw a few mayfly too ..... fantastic !!!!
More fish above the bridge today ...Fished perhaps only fifty yards past the farm, great fun though!!
Eleven brownies to the net, two good fish also self released..Ggggrrrrrrrrr ...... sizes between seven and eleven inches.... Lovely tubby summer fish too !!
Here's hoping for some rain tonight and tommorrow. I think I saw on the met office satellite thingy ....some good amounts of the blue stuff coming over mid Wales anyway ...Perfect, much needed ...Edw, Ithon and Lugg are low ......
Anyway, another lovely session on a favourite beat ... ohhh getting a jungle above the bridge...A pukka cut back and decent tidy up is much needed otherwise we'll loose this cracking beat...Most of my cast were parallel, inches from the waters surface anyway !!! Not ideal casting stance in fairness...Not sure when this beat last had a haircut, not that it matters, trouble is green stuff never stops growing spookily enough !!! These streams need some TLC, simples ..... Right, cold drink time for this callsign !!!lol ....
