River at 0.285 on the Eardisland gauge. Weather bright and sunny.
First time on this beat. Parked up in the super parking spot at 0700, tackled up and proceeded to follow the instructions to get to bottom of beat, about 150yrds down the right bank was confronted by an electric fence keeping a herd of cattle in place. On seeing me, every one of them lined up at the fence "daring" me to enter their area. This fence seems to be all over the top of the beat on both banks. Turned around and made my way down the left bank. Not the easiest path, 2nd field is chest high thistles and nettles.
The third field is easy going, with a nice border separating crop from river. Nice one from the landowner. Didnt go to the weir at bottom of beat and dropped in after about 1/2 mile.
From there it all went downhill. Opted for the duo. Did not see any fish rising, indeed only fish I saw were small grayling flashing at the nymph.
Didnt have a touch untl I got back to the two runs immediately below the bridge, when I hooked and lost 2 trout.
Overall an interesting few hours on a new beat. Access could be easier, had to jump in and out a few times, and bash a bit of balsam, but it is a wild stream, and thats just my old bones complaining.
Next time.

Turned up at The Court of Noke beat just before six ,day seemed like September, dull overcast and really blustery later on !!!! Balsam has grown ballistic here and lots of trees down, actually really messy compared to what this lovely beat used to be like three or four years ago !!!! Lots of work to be done here to get it back to scratch!!!!

Onto the fishing , not a lot of surface activity ,but has some great fun with a caddis pattern and aqua baetis nymph , good confident pulls on them., and some lunkers too the net this morning , nothing really small, five of the fish between ten and thirteen inches , really fat strong fish too !!!!

My last one , its lie I shall keep a mystery ,had me a real run around in the deep deep water ,I thought I was into a chubb ,only to reveal itself to be a gorgeous brownie, must have pushed two and a half pounds , an absolute lump, and I'm guessing twenty , perhaps twenty two inches ,a beaut !!! My best wild streams brownie for a while!!! Rested him for a minute in the net , then off he went , and if I still smoked , that would gave been the time to spark up a tab , with a shaking hand lol !!!!!

A fun few hours , with six Noke beauties to the net , got out by the bridge in somewhat disbelief, superb to net such a leviathan!!! Oh on a bit of a sour note did spook two comorants on the way down, would have made a perfect double for the Beretta !!! A great morning ,back here soon . . . . .

A short session because I got fed up with a wader full of water ....brand new ones too. Not ideal! Water with a tinge if murkiness from recent rain....visibility not good, but managed a couple on a stonefly nymph. Back when waders are replaced....or a trip to Hindwell with the thigh waders if I can’t wait!

Escaped for a couple of hours late this afternoon after being stuck at home due to a heavy mornings rain and a stint on the wife's job list. Managed to fool 5 of various sizes all on black klinkhammers, all safely returned. Missed loads of takes I think it's my age. What a joy to find easy parking and a lacking of barbed wire.

Fished 10am-2pm. After initial rain shower, the sun quickly dried things off. Quite a muggy day actually. No fish see rising, so on with the duo and winkled 5 lovely spotted brownies out of runs that were accessible. LOTS of trees across the river recently fallen by the looks. No option but to climb out of the river and back in the other side....not an easy job! WUF: Any possibility of hauling these out? They are willows, so growing vertically and will get harder to shift therefore.

Blanked. Plenty of great habitats but many stretches inaccessible. Absolutely poured down most of the evening. So not a great day but hope to return sometime.
