River low and clear. Warm and sunny day. All on Nymphs, 1 splashy take on a dry but didn't connect and several lost fish.

Despite a decent fly hatch no fish seen rising on the full length of the beat and nothing in my fly box could entice a take. A nice day out in lovely countryside though.

This is a stunning fishing beat and reasonably accessible. The river was low and gin clear with plenty of deep pools and riffles to fish. During the day, there were very few fish seen rising despite several hatches. I initially used a dry dropper size 14 Klinkhamer and a similar size hare ear nymph and then varied my fishing from just dry and just nymph througout the beat. I caught small 3 WBT on nymph and had several takes.

Arrived at 7pm, 2 small trout from a low clear river Arrow on Nymphs. Lost a really nice fish in one of the pools below the bridge and pulled out of 3 other fish as well! A few fish were rising this evening as well.

River was very low and not very clear hooked one small browni but he slipped the hook. Very quiet fish wise and fly wise.

Cooler day with some rain and little surface activity. However had a bit of fun with all fish on the nymph. Mainly in riffles are the ged of pools and under the banks and trees.

Booked the beat the previous week when the weather forecast was fine. Arrived at 10:30 to find the river rising with a hint of colour. Despite the rain fished a size 12 light coloured stimulator and landed 3 trout, 2 around 10" and 1 a little smaller. Hooked and lost several others. After 4 1/2 hours of continual rain returned to the car a little damp. The last few days rain will have freshened the river nicely for tomorrows anglers.

Finished at 3pm on the Kington Beat so decided to explore this beat and access as I am new to the wild streams permit. Managed to find it without a problem and wondered down the lane in the pouring rain to this lovely secluded section of the river. Much wider here than at Kington and the flow is much more stout requiring a slightly heavier nymph to get down. By now the river was very coloured and I opted to a flashy orange nymph on point and a black/red/silver afair on the dropper. Worked my way up from the entry point at the bridge and had some intrest in the first pool; as I lifted out the flies there was a swirl at the point fly. Worked my way up the second pool and hit into a bigger fish which after short struggle parted ways. My luck from the morning was now eluding me and I seemed to be spending more time untangling my setup rather than fishing! Managed to get my rhythm back and finished with 4 fish to 12oz and had interest from as many again plus 2 lost fish. Considering the conditions, not bad for 90 minutes of fishing. Only covered half the length but really like this part of the River and will be back.
