Bowled up at the bridge this morning at eleven , slight drizzle murky and about fifteen degrees with an annoying blustery breeze that picked up even more through the three and a half hours I was fishing there . . . .

Water looked good , always has that slight tinge here, running at a nice height , and plenty of insect life about , great too see . . . .

Initially opted for a Parachute Pheasant Tail as there were some upwings about at half eleven , no takers on the dries so went for an eighteen flashback PTN , success a lovely savage take in one of the deep pools , and a cracker of an Edw fish , possibly thirteen inches and superb markings!!! Next cast bang , another and again a good fish for here. . . . . Great fun !!!

Fishing was good all the way up , in some areas catapult casting the tiny gold bead nymph but success in the tight little pools and some great takes on the nymph this morning . . . First time in ages I stayed on the nymph all the time I was there . . . . Ringing the changes with the changeable weather too !!!!

One pool had an absolute lunker for here all of fourteen or fifteen inches, superb and a lovely bend in my six foot two weight rod . . . Spot on !!!!

So nine beauties this morning , three on and off as well , always good fun here , although a lot of the time kneeling in the stream to get cast under the canopy , cracking stuff, and nice to see the kingfisher up and down all the time I was there, some trees starting to turn now , wont be long till its seasons end !!!

Chilled out with my dinner on the bridge after a slow bimble back down the fields , a cracking three and a half hours here , and the Edw always has some surprises , one of my best fish to date here, happy days , may even squeeze in another quick session here before the end of the month . . . . Happy days !!!

Well was a cool one when I was taking the pooch for a bimble this morning , about seven degrees , and thick mist on the outskirts of Leominster , up Stoke Prior way , and called for a fleece on , at that time of the morning !!!!! Was in two minds today , the little Clewedog , or the Edw . . . . I did plumb for the Edw @ Hundred House . . . . Still cool when I parked up by the bridge at ten passed seven , reading only eight degrees in my truck , and a spooky mist coming off the little river !!!!!

Tackled up my trustee six foot two weight , and opted for a Pheasant Tail Parachute dry for starters , was snaffled by a feisty eight inch beautifully marked brownie , just up from the first riffled section , a spot on start !!!

Second fish was a cracker for here , about eleven inches , lovely splashy confident rise to the dry , and although still cool , and not much about , the Edw fish were still keen to come up for a prospected dry . . . . Great fun !!!

I did change a couple of times to a very small goldhead nymph , to cover the quiet glassy pools on the middle section , and some good hits to the nymph to , including the most adventurous baby trout in the Edw , who must have only been two inches long , nailed the nymph fair and square , just caught in the corner of his mouth on the barbless hook so no damage done , wished him well and hoping I'll see him in two or three years !!!!!!!!

Sport was constant all the way up , I called it a day at half twelve , getting a tad warm by then , and I was ready for one of my diet cokes and a snack in the cool box left in the truck by then . . . . . A smashing few hours , eleven lovely fish brought to hand , and also four or five minnows , and some parr , all carefully released , great fun , and a pleasant mooch back down the fields to my truck . Lots of sedge activity by then , also damsels and horse flies aaaarrrggghhhhhh!!!!!

Sat on the bridge scoffing my dinner and coke , watching some small trout rising in the glide just up from the bridge , spot on , and a lovely start to the weekend , the Edw in all its guises always seems to relax you big time !!!!!! Back to the Ponderosa and time for some mowing , oh well no peace for the wicked hey !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plenty of colour but not too much water in the river. Nothing to bead head nymphs or dries but then saw a couple of fish move to emergers so fished a stiff hackle spider. Short Tenkara rod used 7 Trout landed and several more self released.

Just a few hours starting at bottom of beat. Water a little low and hot sunny day made it tricky, very spooky fish and tricky casting with lots of obstacles and high banks. Lovely spot though!

Fished p.m. and struggled with the low water, slow flow and sun on glassy pools, covering less than a quarter of the beat. Eventually the cloud thickened and a brownie obliged.

A hot, but overcast (off and on) day. Part of a dry spell. Though overnight rain had helped the levels a little the water was still relatively low and clear. Couple of fish taken on small dry flies but most came to a small lightly weighted nymph fished upstream. Twelve fish to hand - not counting the minnow. Couple might have been Salmon Parr but we weren't sure. Mostly six inches or so but one good fish of perhaps 3/4 of a pound. 2 rods and modesty prevents my colleague declaring a win, 9 to 3. Doooh!

Well another early start, up at sparrows fart , usual jobs done , watered some of the tubs and veggies etc etc , fed the gang and got going to the good old Hundred House beat of the Edw , seeing that JD had a good day , a few days ago , doesn't surprise me as it's fishing really well at the mo and all beats are highly populated with brownies to be honest , absolute cracker the Edw . . . . . . .

Arrived at the bridge about five to six , tackled up , usual rig , opted for a Parachute Iron Blue , as last time was some activity from them , and small sedges , and slinked down into the now very low but clear Edw , ahhhhhh bliss always great being here . . . . Took a while before first feisty fish on the Para iron blue , but lovely fish none the less , about seven inches , slipped back in . . . . Consistent sport really from about half six to be honest , all the way up , especially the pool tails today , seemed to attract the gnats just above the water , and the small trout having a pop at them . . Always fun to watch !!!!!!

Didn't do the whole beat , finished about three quarters up , covered the series of lovely little pools , always hold one or two good trout for here , and the one " banker " pool didn't let me down , nice rise to my Iron Blue , and a lovely ten inch brownie to hand , spot on !!!!

Sixteen this morning , finished fishing and bimbled back to the truck at about eleven , really good fun as always , fish ranged in size from five inches to pushing eleven , really nice wind down , and the kingfisher activity at the top end was fast and furious , hope it was just minnows they were carrying !!!! Cheeky monkeys !!!!! Lovely to see though . . .

Definitely in need of some water now , looking a tad bit sorry for itself in a good few places , two nights good rain would be just the ticket , and healthy for the resident brownies too , back here very soon , give the Lugg a bash in a few days , between shifts , as it usual holds water well even when there's been no rain for a while , spot on four hours . . . . . Lovely jubley !!!!!!!

I have fished the Edw wild stream many times but never Hundred House. The description has always put me off, “meandering stream” and all that. It is very different from the other Edw beats which run faster. On Hundred House here are long stretches of unbroken water and this meant needing to go slowly and carefully to not disturb the fish. I started at 11am and walked off at 6pm, having only done 2/3rds of the beat - that’s slow!
What is very much the same at the other Edw beats is how productive the fishing is. 25 WBT all fell to dry. Most were the normal sizes for Edw trout at 6”-10” except for 3 exceptions. 2 fish at 12” and 1 massive fish at 16” which had my 3WT bent double, gave me a personal best for the Edw, and sent me away very happy.

Well after a long old week of early shifts, getting up at sparrows fart , thought I'd carry on the motion , got up early bells this morning , at four , give the pooch a good walk around , feed all the animals , thenheadeed down to the Edw for a few hours. , as hot later so go while it's coolish !!!

Turned up at the bridge at ten to six , lovely morning , muggy , sun not burning through yet , so spot on , got going with a small Para Greenwells , on my usual six foot two weight rig , quietly does it as some fish fishing in first pool , always is here !!!! Careful cast had him on , Great start , nice fish of about eight inches , really good run around in the clear water .The Edw is at normal height now , but lovely and clear . . . . . Worked my way up , fishing the Greenwells , and tiny klinkhammers , also small sedge patterns too , missing quite a few initially , as the small brownies are so quick , but honed in after three missed fish !!!! Then things got going on the sport side of things , superb fun , managed three quarters of the beat this morning , fish ranged from top four to twelve inches . Had three clonkers in the tally too , lovely fish , and you got to respect such gorgeous brownies from such a stream as this .

Sixteen trout this morning , may have been more , not sure , but Great sport and called it a day at half ten , as had a few chores I wanted to get sorted in the garden , nice to see the kingfisher busy today , and the buzzards calling up height on the thermals , shall head to this cracker again very soon , now where too early bells tomorrow morning . . . . Mmmmm I wonder !!!!!!!

Well with th weather an absolute picture at six this morning , did the chores , feeding the pigs , pooch a good walk etc etc then decided to zip up to the Edw at Hundred House . . . .

Arrived at the bridge about half nine , looked superb and already alive with insect life , happy days , water a lovely level too , opted initially for small Parachute Greenwells , and started down by the bridge , the odd rise and up from the bridge ; nice pool , first six inch brownie on . . . Lovely feisty take , nice start !!!! Took a bit to really get going though to be fair , and by half ten some regular rises , often tight in to the bank , Great fun , some fish small this morning , but still a buzz on light gear . . . .

Some nice fish amongst a tally of twelve this morning too , two of the fish over twelve inches , lovely run around on the six foot , two weight rod , spot on !!!! The farmer was cutting the grass in the field next to the river didn't seem to affect the fishing too much , although I'm sure it picked up a bit once he'd finished . . . He must have startled a fox , because it came blundering down the bank into the river , didn't see me , shook itself dry and then just sauntered off . . . . Things you see hey !!!!!

Over all a cracking there and a half hours , some superb sport , and a real mix of fish sizes , lovely feisty brownies here on the Edw , and masses of insect life too , also fished a CDC and elk this morning , as plenty of sedge activity , and equally effective , with some splashy aggressive takes to it , Great fun !!!!! Shall head down here again very very soon , probably middle of next week , spot on !!!
