What a spectacular place to fish … the drive there was epic ! Persistent rain and a cold breeze throughout todays session but I got there early and used a small silver tungsten herl nymph fished solo to catch all my fish. Wading was pretty easy and you just have to fish this beat …. Awesome countryside and can’t wait to return when something may be hatching !

11-3:30. Chose dry fly, greenwells glory and olive, water still skinny but slight colour. Hergest almost unrecognisable after the past year’s turbulent weather, still beautiful and will always be a favoured beat. No success in raising but took the two rises that were seen, 6 and 10 ins. Both returned safely.

Lovely stretch of river and awesome surroundings, used a 7ft rod but would be better with a 6ft, a good hatch of March brown (Mayfly) I only fished 400yds but will be back again soon. Tight Lines all ☺️

Colder than expected with a stiff breeze and as a result there was no surface activity. In just under four hours I didn't see anything hatch. The winter floods have moved a lot of debris but no significant obstacles. Fished a small nymph in the deeper pools and pocket water, plenty of hungry little trout, but didn't find one of the better fish. Still an excellent stream to spend time with.

Beautiful day. River lowish but sparklingly clear. Trout elusive. My fishing partner, Andy, had one trout at 8" on a heavy nymph. In addition 5/6 small trout around 5" all on Para patterns or similar.

Fished from about 13.00 to 16.30 Bright and breezy.
9 trout on nymphs 6 to 12 inches plus plenty of parr.
A large Oak tree is in the river just above Hergest bridge, looks like it could cause trouble.
Also found a good quality folding net which could be reclaimed through the booking office.

Lovely weather day, river running well and clear. Plenty of a variety of flies appearing, but I did not see any rises. Fished all day with a gold bead hares ear on the point and unweighted nymphs on the dropper, trying to ‘match the hatch’ as they appeared. Landed 8 mainly from the streamier water, up to 9 inches, and missed a few sharp takes. Also a few parr, lots of them around. Also a first for me, 2 at 6 inches each at the same time. Not exactly on my bucket list but fun anyway !!
