River in nice nick, not a lot rising and managed to fluff up most of my chances. A lovely, strong 10incher on small dry saved the day.

A lovely day to be out with a rod. Cloudy, little wind. Water low, despite recent rain, but clear. Wading is not difficult with gravel and slate, but need studs as the latter if sloping can be interesting. Sadly all was so quiet. Little fly life; only two rises seen, and nothing could be tempted to my flies. Despite this an enjoyable session in as much as a blank day can be!

Bimbled off to the lovely Edw at Aberedw .. First job there was a thermometer dip before tackling up , so headed down to the Bridge and ran across the field with thermometer and dipped it in three locations .... 12 degrees happy days .... although she was low and very over grown .... twas going to be a tricky session .......
Fished between ten and half twelve....i cut out just before the house on the river bank on the right !!@ makes me wonder if they worry about flood conditions, as its literally on the banks !!! Cest la vie !! Plush place ... I'm sure getting flooded out wouldn't have crossed their minds !! Anyway, onto the fishing , lots of pools ruined with summer growth now .... a work party much needed here ... three of four hours would be just the ticket !! As I've mentioned before we need to blitz these lovely wild streams ... they've had a few years" free for all "and it's a bit like Jack and the Beanstalk on some of them !! Where I could get a cast away , some good takes this morning on my Para Greenwells ..... five made it to the net, a few also slipped the hook .... good fun , just a quick session as had a weather warning for torrential storms covering Builth and Rhayader area ...fish in the seven to nine inch bracket .... low and slow wading needed ... seems confined big time after my fab three days up at Claerwen locally during the Cochybonddu fall... was sublime and three morning sessions tallied over sixty gorgeous brownies up there.....
The walk back through the fields on the Edw is very pleasant and was only when I got back to my truck that the sun was poking through and some rain drops too!!! A fun session, will try a more open beat in a few days ...... let's hope for more rain not this half hearted stuff we're getting ..... home time and a large diet coke I think, lovely job !!!

Fished later than normal, had a fairly hectic day so ended up at the pull in opposite the phone box at about fourish.... still really muggy and warm. Reading 18 degrees on my truck dash ...... such a calm feeling walking down to the now low river Edw ..... I'd say two more good weeks fishing on this with no rain then things will get really tricky !!! It was hard going this evening to be fair !!!
Fished a small grey wulff and tiny f fly when they weren't smashing up to spent spinners !!@ seemed to work ... sized down my f fly to a twenty , lots of missed fish today and a good few on but then off the barbless hook .... oh well still good fun .... managed seven to the net , some feisty tubby fish too .... sizes from seven to eleven inches or so .....
Fished from below the Bridge up to just shy of the plush house on the right as you wade up .... before it, there is a nice gate opening then you have that cracking walk through the woodland .... blighted for me by dam horse flys..... they are persistent aren't they !!! Tactic is let them land and swat them quickly before they get into your skin!!!
A fun three hours here as always , think the fish have had a beating here the last few weeks .... it amazes me what's wrong with the Arrow and Lugg beats this year .... if I was back leominster way I'd be on Court of Noke and kington, Hergest beats etc etc .... come on folks where is your sense of adventure!!!.... there good beats .... anyway I digress , a fun chill out on an old favourite, I'm waiting for the Cochybonddu to show up at Claerwen, rumour has it there's been a few on Llyn Clywedog ..... we shall see!!! Happy times .....

Great day, the fish had evidently done their homework over the winter. They were in all the right place, rising gently to the very varied hatch, BWO, sedges, smaller Upwings and even better, my Klink; and the odd mayfly, which they ignored. Largest about 12" and a couple of 6".
The water was beautifully clear but surprisingly low and the surrounding countryside was quite dry.
It really is a lovely river & the Seven Stars does an incomparable Butty Bach.

Nice day on a very pretty small stream. One issue, we walked too far as the information says we would pass both a foot bridge and a road bridge. It seems that the foot bridge was washed away some time ago and thus based on counting bridges we carried on after the road bridge believing it to be what was referred to as a foot bridge. The beat information should be updated to reflect that in fact the first bridge one comes to is the end of the lower section of this beat.

Another afternoon livin the dream !!!! Perfect weather and river looking perfect too ... parked up at half twelve .... a few upwings on the go, but the fish didn't really get going till half two in fairness... although I did tempt some wanting an early brunch with a size 18 iron blue!!! ..... lively smash takes in the faster water ... some tubby fish today too in a bag of fifteen ... sizes from six to eleven inches .... feisty Edw scrappers too !!! Lovely job !!
As the mayfly and olives started showing more the fish were looking up big time ... used my usual six foot, two weight ... great for here to be honest ... just dapping the dry in the fast stuff got a response !! Short accurate casts today won the fish !! Well , most anyway, still some long range releases!! In fact quite a few ...lol !!!
Got out hundred yards past that plush house on the right bank..... a fab few hours ... was actually quarter past five when i got out !!@ loved the afternoon ... fantastic .... Time for a mooch down into Rhayader and a scoop in The Crown me thinks!!! Weeeeell , be rude not to hey !!!

Water rarely over the top of my wading boots. Fished for an hour before calling it a day. 1 x 8" wbt saved my blushes.

Spoke to a local on the way back to my car. Said it was the lowest the river had been in 90 years and struggling to recover with hard ground and low aquifers. Quite depressing really.
