An evening session on the lovely Lynfi Dulas which was still flowing quite well all things considered. The river bed was a bit gungy in places of low flow but wherever it picked up a bit the bed was clean. Turning over any stone or rock in the flow revealed very good numbers of little stone clinger nymphs and numbers of various large caddis and as always loads of the little micro caddis 'igloos'! Water condition is obviously pretty good still.
No mayfly showing (been &gone??) but some good clouds of spinner came over the river late on but not many got on the water.
A bit hard going with more trees and brash in the water now but still lots of deep pools/runs to have a go at. Having a good flick side roll cast here in the bag is very useful here. Did a bit of pruning here & there for the next guy down...and me too!
Just the 5 fish without trying too hard on a 16 tan cdc & elk, fishing it with tiny twitches got them going. Plenty more fluffed or lost !
Two of the fish would have gone to 12inchers, nice fish indeed for here and in super & hard fighting condition.
Just about caught the last of the lovely sunset away down the valley on the walkout up the hill . Very happy!

Water fairly low & clear after the very dry April with some algal growth on the gravels. Good to have a change from the persistent easterly wind of late to a gentle southerly. Fished a dry (adams) which worked on the occasional riser, mostly in the slower deeper pools, with hatches spasmodically throughout the afternoon.

The river was barely recognisable after the winter floods.
Like everywhere else low and clear desperate for some rain.
Fished duo with Tenkara rod all trout took small nymph.
A few Brook Duns around in the afternoon and saw my first Mayfly of the season.

A bright day & low clear water with algae developing on gravels in slower pools. Saw just the one rising fish & missed its take to my dry. Otherwise a quiet but enjoyable afternoon. Dippers & signs of otters.

A quick session here this evening to check it out after the winter. Been some changes for sure but nothing drastic and still plenty of good pools and runs. No mayfly spinner but some large gatherings of Brook duns out in the fields in the late evening light ( a lovely sight back lit by the setting sun)but thats where they stayed this evening despite much watching & waiting!
No fish to hand but bumped a few good fish at last light.
Just a lovely place to be with the evening sun along the valley and the Black mountain in the distance and looking forward to a return asap.

Not fished due to heavy rain and likely swollen river.
Will try another year
