Unbelievably hot evening, river worryingly low, I was delighted to rise anything at all and consider 4 little uns a good result under the circumstances. Couldn't find access via field to left of pub, ended up using the bridge a little downstream. The pint afterwards in The Trout Inn was the most refreshing I've had for many a month....

A lovely beat, but currently "On it's bones" a couple of small browns from the shaded pools.
Looks like there's rain on the horizon, although I guess we have to be carefull of what we wish for...
If it starts it might not stop...

Well thought I'd head to the lovely Cammarch again this afternoon ....up since half six ... lots of jobs nailed , and a good gym session too .... got to the river at half twelve , balmy twenty degrees abd sunny !! ... gin clear water, and like a lot of the Wild Streams at a nice height at the mo !!
Fished a Para greenwells and Iron Blue this afternoon .... fish looking up by two ... not really that much on the go .... I saw a few Large Brook duns and olives and rest was it to be honest.... ohhh the usual tiny gnats that attract the attention of small trout.... still fun to cast to !!!
Very aggressive hits when the trout do want your fly here .... they hammer it, hard as nails ! The Vinny Jones of the fish world live in the Beaulah stretch of the Cammarch !!!!lol !!
A fun few hours the fishing up past the metal footbridge is hard work and a gorge with a few trouty pools ... I couldn't interst anything in the half a dozen I put a dry in the foam lane .... not a sniff ... a long walk back but not toooo bad .... a pleasant and interesting beat ... I'll do this one again .... six made it to the net ranging in Size from six to ten inches... Great feisty scrappers.....Time for home and crack open a cool bottle of the Amber nectar.... loving this varied week on the streams..... lifes good sometimes, happy days!!!

An afternoon session at the lovely River Cammarch ... lower beat . Warm and pleasant when I tackled up, reading 17 degrees on my truck dash .... parked up by the now dilapidated old shed and walked down at one ... looking a picture with just a very slight tinge but sat at a lovely workable height for dries ....
There were a lot of insects on the go in the afternoon including large Brook duns , saw some hawthorns and olives too ....nice to see two paired up mandarin ducks saw some here last year, maybe the ground is good for their nest burrows ...... Anyway the fishing this afternoon was fun fun fun.!!! Stealthy wading needed here as its clear with glides too... I fished a Para Greenwells the whole beat and didn't loose it either ..... fab sport, nine made it to the net with also some long range releases ....sizes from five to ten inches . They always go banzai here when hooked ... Great fun !!! Pretty little brownies here too .......
They can really surprise you when prospecting your dry here ... and smash it when you least expect it ! A good few cast to risers and the other half prospecting in trouty places ..... a really fun but casually slow four and half hour mooch ..... loved it .. I'll be back here soon .... near for me now I'm only in Rhayader too ..... Happy days !!! Ohhhh and there's one bottle of Speckled Hen still in the fridge tops off a grand day .....sorted !

After checking the river levels opted for the Cammarch as there appeared to have been more rain in the area with the Irfon up a couple of feet. There had obviously been quite a spate last week which had all but cleared.
The river looked good but fish were hard to find.
Only managed 2 on a small nymph.

I was inspired by L.B. s piccies of the Cammarch , and his report at the beginning of the week , so thought I’d give it a bash too ….. holding its water for sure when I parked up by the now dilapidated old barn at the Lower beat parking area …..

Always a slight red tinge here , bit like the Cilieni , although nice and refreshed it looked , did dip it with the thermometer out of interest , reading 12 degrees , so these cooler nights of late really are bringing the temp down , great stuff …. Still not at its usual flow , but not bad considering …….

Fished my six foot , two weight rod , and initially went with an eighteen tan klinkhammer , did the trick , two good takes missed in a row initially ….. honed in eventually , and had my fist Cammarch brownie in a while , great stuff , strong little fish too ,and lovely violent takes on the dry too , about ab eight inch fish , slipped back in …. The next two were ditto in size , hitting the dry at the heads of the pools , last fish was about ten inches , a really cracker …. A few missed strikes , and two that didn’t make it to the net …… a very sporting few hours …………………..

A pleasant mooch upstream here , it’s varied water and lovely dry fly water too . A heron was working the water in two locations , as I spooked him …. Annoyed I’d say , wonder how he had done fishing wise today !!!!! Also buzzards and I think young ones too . Seems a popular place for buzzards , and I remember last year a pair being here too .

Only did just over half the beat looking at google maps , as I cut cross the fields , hit the road and walked back down to my truck . It’s a long beat this one , so bear it in mind if you fancy doing the full beat right up to the bridge by the Trout Inn , which incidentally WUF , can you clarify , is it still a beat we can fish ,the upper one , as one report , a gent stated that the landowner has blocked off entry and exits with barbed wire etc etc …. Be nice to get an answer , so that anglers know it’s worth the trip out there …..

Anyway , the lower beat was fun , varied and sporting during my four hour mooch this morning , we’ll , actually started at half eleven , and cut out into the field at quarter past three . Great fun , always amazes me why it’s not fished more , it’s got a reasonable head of brownies in it too ….. lovely job .

A pleasant few hours on this lovely stream. The recent rains had given the rivers a much needed lift so thought I'd get out for a couple of hours. Not much of a hatch with only the occasional riser seen. The fish were active though taking a small nymph or Coachman well.

Four fish and a few missed in an enjoyable few hours

Access to this river is virtually impossible, with landowner fences blocking the way. Gates have been fenced over and barbed wire seems to be the favoured tool applied.
The Trout Inn in Beulah told me that access to the river there has been cut off by the landowner.

I even tried a footpath below Beulah only to find that the post has been removed and, again, barbed wire positioned across the gate.

Well for a change headed for the Cammarch ,.lower beat , arriving near the bridge at about quarter to nine !! Perfect height , bit of a tinge to it but looking nice !! Never done the Lower beat so was champing at the bit to get going !!

Tackled up my usual small stream outfit ,.opting for a small Parachute Iron Blue initially, see how the mop flops with it !!!

A series of lovely pools here and fun dry fly water !! Lovely strong fish too !! Had a tally of eleven ! Actually I'd be telling porkies if I said they were all good Fish!! Six were decent brownies the remainder were five or six inch fish !! Also three Salmon parr caught during the five hour session.i was there !! Thoroughly enjoyed the mooch up this varied and interesting stream ! Great takes on the dry too ! Vicious ; and two came out from knowwhere literally as soon as the fly alighted !! Fantastic fun !!!!

It's a long beat , and I only managed. Perhaps three quarters of it !! Great fun and two kingfishers keeping me company! It also appears that half way up this beat is a ravens sanctuary!! Lots of deep croaking! Anc close up they are impressive too! Almost magical. . . . . .

A really fun five hours in this secretive valley, and some cracking dry fly sport too . . . . It is a long walk back so beat that in mind !! I was ready for a cold can of pop in my cool bag when I got back to the truck . . . . . Sorted!! Upper beat I a couple of weeks I think !!!! Happy days . . . .
